Of course, I do know, that the title says "Red Squirrel", but this one is brown 😉

Ich weiß natürlich, dass der englische Name "Rotes Eichhörnchen" lautet, dieses aber dunkelbraun ist 😉

The dark brown squirrels can be found especially in the area of the Austrian and the Swiss Alps. Particularly striking is the white belly.

Speziell im Bereich der Österreichischen Schweizer Alpen sind die dunkelbraunen Eichhörnchen zu finden. Besonders auffällig ist dabei der weiße Bauch.

Last weekend I was able to watch this little guy in the neighboring garden, as he scurried to a walnut tree again and again, and ran with two or even three nuts in his mouth on the fence back to his nest.
Luckily I had my Sigma Telezoom 150-600mm, but the distance was nearly too big even for this lens.

Letztes Wochenende konnte ich diesen kleinen Kerl im Nachbargarten beobachten, wie er immer wieder zu einem Walnussbaum huschte, und mit zwei oder sogar drei Nüssen am Zaun zurück zu seinem Nest lief.
Glücklicherweise hatte ich mein Sigma Telezoom 150-600mm dabei, aber auch für dieses Objektiv war die Entfernung noch fast zu groß.

Incidentally, the fence is not so crooked because of any lens distortion, but it really looks like this :)

Der Zaun ist übrigens nicht wegen irgendwelcher Objektivverzerrungen so schief, sondern schaut wirklich so aus :)

All photos were shot without a tripod with the Canon EOS R Camera and the telephoto lens SIGMA 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM C at a distance between about 15 and 30 meters (45-90 feet).

Our squirrels here are most of this dark brown color with the white belly. Sometimes we see red squirrels, but I don't think, I have ever seen a grey one in nature.

Das Eichhörnchen war so fleißig am Nüsse hin- und hertragen, dass ich wahrscheinlich noch näher gehen hätte können, aber dann hätte ich keine Deckung mehr gehabt ;)

Richtig, und dieses Mal habe ich nur wieder mal das Sigma getestet, weil ich auch irgendwie überrascht war, denn neben dem Eichhörnchen kamen dann noch ein paar Vögel dorthin, und auf allen Fotos sitzen sie auf diesem alten hässlichen Zaun ;)

Ja, und kürzlich ist auch ein Biber dazugekommen, der sich irgendwo am Bach nebenan angesiedelt hat, und der das Schilf am Teich vom Nachbarn ausreißt.

We have absolutely no white bellied squirrels around here. Ours are brown to gray, or reddish. Red squirrels can be huge and quite aggressive. Terrific photos

I think, this one is a fighter too - did you see his ear, and he is looking somehow weird over the fence ;) lol
Sometimes we see red squirrels here, but mostly they are like this one, dark brown with the white belly.

The habit is not bad, I have also upvoted the comments I have got, but now it's just useless, and everybody should use his voting power for upvoting posts. I hope you don't mind me. I have no idea, how these things work. For the beer you have to have at least 6 beer staked to be able to send one beer per day. For each 6 staked beers you can send one !BEER ;)

Seit kurzem gibt es nur noch jeweils 0,1 beer token pro !BEER, aber das ist in Steem umgerechnet in Summe immer noch mehr als ein kleines Upvote.

I hope your weekend has started well Mine not so much last night our internet and Tv went down at &PM and was out all evening but it is back up this morning thankfully, no morning walk we are getting rain and wind from the outer bands of the Hurricane but luckily not to bad at all and nothing like what hit the Bahamas so we are lucky

I know ;) and I know, that you will decide, what's best for you and your photography.

I don't mind, when I don't have internet access, but I have to know it before - like inside of my parents house, where you have to be very close to a window to have a signal. It's terrible, when it suddenly stops and you don't know why or how long it will take to work again.

We have had rain all day long yesterday, and today it was still raining until about noon. So I had no morning walk either. Now it seems to get better, but the air has cooled quite a bit down.

Have I told you, that there were some changes when you send a !BEER ?

Yes your right sometimes no internet is good when it is planned as you say, but when it comes out of the blue it catches you out,
We had rain overnight but its clearing up now, there is a fire Muster today here I may try and swing by that and check it out should be cool for some new shots

I have become used of your typos by now can somehow read them without problems. WSome words and phrases which I do not know, I can easily find via Google ... but what is a "fire Muster"? 😵 I have an idea though, but I'm not sure.

Its still pretty grey here I hope it clears soon I want to get tot he Fire Muster early on while its quiet and it starts at 10AM,

And in this case its not a typo I fire Muster is when fire trucks gather for an event, and in one of the local parks here one is happening today,m, they will have both new and vintage trucks I missed it last year but its an event I always enjoy going to

Sounds quite interesting, old fire trucks look pretty cool. We have such events here too, but I think in the US they will be a bit bigger, like most is a bit bigger ;)

The sunis now coming out so its looking good to go there I will share some shots most likely tonight with my iPhone of the event and take a bunch with my camera also, they also have fire fighting competitions, a market o and fod trucks so it should be fun, I have other things I have to do today so will be a quick visit there

Did a quick walk around the Fire Muster, spend about 40 Minutes there which was nice, now chilling a little before heading out the next time although may not be a chance to take any more photos

Cool 😊 we have a nice thunderstorm here with lots of water falling down from above. It hasn't been raining for a few hours, and it was really time for some rain, before everything dries out ;) lol

Well tthe next pouting where i am just about to head out on is to drop my wife off to get her hair done, and then hang around to bring her home, I may be able to duck somewhere for a quick walk but will see how it goes

Catching them doing their winter hunting and gathering is always a photo op! I can usually hear ours before I see them. They can be heard cutting the clusters of nuts or shaking the tree. :)

This squirrel is so full of character and you really did him justice. I like the shot of him listening to all around him, but, the one with the clusters in his mouth is priceless!

Great job! Also congrats on making the #Hit-Parade again!

This little guy was really a surprise for me. I have seen him running over the fence and thought, maybe he comes back ... and he did, with the nuts in his mouth 😊

He was very busy and ran quite a few times mostly on the fence and sometimes in the grass. In between he sometimes stopped and listened. Maybe he has heard me or my camera, because after a while he didn't come anymore.

But I didn't mind, because I had got some nice shots of him 😊

Squirrels do not hibernate but only something like winter resting. When it gets dark, squirrels return to their sleeping nest and sleep a lot ... that's what I have read ;)
