"If you're gone, maybe it's time to come home
There's an awful lot of breathing room
But I can hardly move
If you're gone, baby you need to come home, come home
There's a little bit of something me
In everything in you"

"If You're Gone" by Matchbox Twenty

I'm suffering "mom withdrawal" and miss my kids not being home! For the first time since she moved to Texas, my dear daughter won't be able to visit for either Thanksgiving or Christmas. Fortunately, my son will be home for a full week starting next weekend and an entire month before his Spring semester starts.

When winter comes early and the weather isn't conducive for going outdoors to take photos, it's time to resort to your archives in the cloud to find images and take much needed & welcome trips down memory lane.

Columns, benches, windows and student's shadows come together quite nicely in this black and white with colorsplashed photo I took while touring the campus of Purdue University over two years ago with my son when he was deciding what college to attend to pursue his engineering degree (swoosh, time has flown by!)

Let's go back and see the original photograph before edits.

Wonderful photo. I love the use of selective color. It helps make the shadows stand out.

I remember those first times that my kids would not be here for the holidays. I was shattered. I've become a lot more flexible and this year we are celebrating Thanksgiving on the Saturday after and the same with Christmas.

My side of the family has always been accommodating with the holidays. Mom and Dad were big about celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year with family and friends for more than just the actual day. Celebrating is fun, after all!🎄✝️🥂

With my daughter, it wasn't so much a choice but the way it was worked out with her custody as she was really young when her father and I divorced. We alternated holidays even and odd years. My daughter has generously maintained the balance by driving home and visiting her father and me every single year (along with her two dogs) since she moved to Texas. This year will be her first time not doing so (it's all good!😉😘🥰)
