snake's alphabet

Russian language has expressions like this: 'Slippery as a snake', 'Twirl as a snake', etc. Look for yourself, how much truth theres in it. Here is a series of pictures: "Children caught a snake," or: "Snake demonstrates the signs of the alphabet." Of course, they hardly convey the slippery reality, maybe just about 30%... Anyway, have fun!

Предлагаю вашему просвещенному вниманию серию карточек "Дети поймали ужа", или "Дрессированный уж показывает знаки алфавита". Конечно, реальность скользкого ужика они передают, ну, едва ли на треть.

Ужик был пойман в середине августа, то есть ему исполнилось никак не больше полумесяца. (Обратите внимание на характерные желтые или слегка оранжевые пятна на голове; если их нет - перед вами гадюка, или какая-то другая опасная змея, а не безобидный ужик). После внимательного изучения экстерьера и функционала, он был отпущен. Сбежать самому из цепких детских рук ему не удалось!
This uzhik was caught in mid-August, that is, he was no more than a crescent. (Consider the characteristic yellow or slightly orange spots on the head; if there is no spots like this, you might be holding a poisonous viper, or some other dangerous snake, but not a harmless uzhik). After careful study of the exterior and functionality, little baby was released. He didn’t succeed in escaping from tenacious children's hands!

кстати, поговаривают, что есть гибриды ужа и гадюки.
Сам не встречал. Но если это так, то гадюка вполне может иметь жёлтые пятна на голове.
