How can you be free?

Hi

That's the last photo I have taken. How long would it stay as my last photo?

OK let's discuss the title. How can you be free? What it takes to be free?

I used to think traveling is a good way to feel freedom, but (though I haven't experienced everything) looks like anything that can give you a feeling of freedom, can turn into a trap.
(If you agree, let's take it a little bit further)

If the thing isn't changing, what is changing then? Is it all in my mind? Is my mind doing this, turning everything into a trap that you want to scape?

Being able to set your mind free is the most important thing in life.

How can one do that?
And can we free the soul? Could it be more important than (or next step after) freeing the mind?

I wish I knew? Seems to me that we can never escape our own being~
Or, maybe that's just the stage I'm at?

I guess we should turn into nothing to be able to do that. Just nothing, not even ashes, and there's a paradox in it; if "we" turn to nothing, what's the "we" then?

And another question just came to my mind, is it right to scape your being? Isn't the mere existence of one that makes him/her able to be free (or trapped).

Wow, yes, then what is the WE? So even at ash we are swept up in the others wind.
I'll have to ponder your last question. If it's free or trapped so simply then I guess then it is as simple as everyone says, just a matter of perspective, but I'm starting to think there must be acceptance of the whole all at once?

I think it takes time and effort to change perspective, so even if it's just a matter of perspective, it's not "just" a matter of perspective. (By now you should be familiar with my passion for finding paradoxes)

acceptance of the whole all at once?

Could you explain more?

If I may chip in here: I think you've hit the rub here, Sina; explaining it at all would mean to fragment the whole... Hope that puts a paradox in your pipe to smoke!

I guessed... I wanted to make sure it's the same thing I think about. In Persian (using Arabic words) we say
وحدت در عین کثرت.
If I translate it to English, I will surely reduce the meaning to lower levels.

Sure it did, hope it's not to bad for my lungs.

Went for a walk, last night to help air your lungs, after I tried to lower the level of your high-inspired Persian-Arabic saying. Now I wake up at 4:54 in the morning with this saying echoing in my head.....you seem to constantly be a messenger for me (and OV). Can't help but wonder what your "cat-story"is (the current theme). ...
Paradoxes seem like cat and dog: not at all strictly "oppostite" but in a bind nonetheless of some tension at least as an "idea".
If (somehow) we all have the same overview at some point in time, and only become separate eyes (and vulnerable for it, the risk of incarnation), at what point in time do co-inciding lines of vision converge to create paralell lives, where is everybody situated at that point (here/there/no place much?)(e.g. in 1968, one of us is 5, one of us has just been born, and you are not planning to arrive for quite a while; yet here we all are, as if we always knew we could be...)

I guess it's early...and 3 hrs sleep a night is starting to get to me! ha ha. But I"ve never felt so sure in all my life that a paradox is like a ship of Theseus, holding steady the truth along the line of time.
And what if all of life is one big paradox - self-referencing (the Cretan declaring all Cretans lie), with its eternal regress (why is the devil's question) and circular definitions (from which one can only be free in a circle without a line), then one single life might boil down to only one single move on the (multidimensional or M.C.Escher-like) chessboard and all you have to do is play your own game of chess in the meantime to wait for your turn.

Keep 'em coming! (the moves, the paradoxes, the insights).

I hope I could become a messenger for my self someday. (Maybe this is not I should hope for.) I think it needs much higher effort and spirituality. I don't even know what I'm saying...

At some point, you no longer need to look for paradoxes, they come to you and I guess I'm close to that point. My mind is unconsciously looking for them.

Parallel lives... Interesting phenomenon. I think we all should reach one point, but we don't start at the same point, so in the middle of the way, paths might cross or become parallel, but I don't think it will last till the end.

Have been thinking and feeling that pretzel that sometimes happens with the consideration of infinite paradoxical figure eights--like skating the up and down, faster in the loop. I feel saved by Suk's answer :)
PS--The young adults here pumping the music while we make a meal, so my mind is not as focused, but don't want to leave you with no response. Hope you're having a wonderful weekend too!

Yup. Afraid so: all in the mind. So it's now down to freeing your mind! The trick to freedom is setting thought free to fly where it can find new inspiration, and soar on the winds of intuition. It takes quite a bit of imagination; but that you have plenty of: just see what lies beneath the surface reality and you are in.
Look forward to your next photo showing us the inside of your cabin/free mind.

P.S. The soul is free, but it would like to be linked to a Higher Self more efficiently and for this it needs the right balance between stimulating sense impressions (given to us for a purpose, not a punishment) and a freedom of thought (that dead stuff accumulating like laws and facts and numbers).

P.P.S. Never try to escape your own being! Or one will fall into a delusional void of nihilism. Scaping your life is done by your being. We are all landscapers of the All Conscious.

Cultiver votre propre jardin! Voltaire (cultivate your own garden); Maybe some tips from Gertrude Jeckyll, an artist who made 3D art wrested from living nature will help?

I do set my mind to fly, but sometimes it takes me to scary places.

Sometimes I think freedom is not a good thing. Being able to control your self is more important but I know it's just another paradox and their on the same side.

Balance, yeah, balance, balance.

What is stimulating sense impression?

I read the blog, but I couldn't find how could it help me. Maybe I should use more white in my photos, instead of dark tones....

Dear One, For help to be efficient one needs to learn what to ask when to whom! Good humans are always willing to help. Some souls just don't really want to know: stubborn and harsh task masters on themsleves first and foremost. And then it is a question of time and reinventing the wheel, which can make for a very useful training.

Freedom is always excellent. God wouldn't want us for slaves. But clarity of thinking and purity of feeling and decided willing is another matter: they need to be subjected to discipline and focus.

Indeed, the higher you fly the harder you will fall. Learning to fly is always about finding the most efficient technique and altitude where you sail that layer of life that always knows what your spirit needs most of all.

It reminded me of a photo and a text I uploaded on instagram few years ago.

Maybe I'll use it for my next post, if I haven't already posted it on steemit.

You will always be limited by your physical being, but the real journey may lie in finding how to deal with that. This will be different for all of us. I think your next photograph will come with the next small increment of discovery that will peak your interest enough to take the shot.

I look forward to seeing what you find next, so keep exploring.

But how often we reach that physical limit? And how often mind mental limits.

This shot is from my last trip. Hopefully I'll write another travel story soon.

We constantly meet new physical limits as we age. We see less, hear less, and eventually travel shorter distances on our bicycles. The differences can be subtle, almost unnoticeable, but can also arrive in an instant and be devastating. If you want to explore your world by bicycle, now is the time as you are less likely to be able to when you are 70 years old.

I did a number of things my friends said they would only do once retired. Very few of them will ever get to do those things. They thought I was slightly out of my mind when I bought a big boat to spend my time on the Mississippi, and I'm glad I could share part of my ride with them when I did because I certainly couldn't do it now.

If I would have listened to everyone else I would have never done this.
Maybe I should've bought a bigger boat...

Yes, that's right, but you can't expect someone at my age to see 10 years ahead. (I guess 5 years will do it for me)

I hate that mindset of doing what you don't like and don't believe in to be able to do something you like after that. It's like planting an apple tree, to get peaches. (And possibly convince him self that it's easier to sell apples and then buy peaches with that).

Our weekend is Friday (for some, also Thursday). But it's kind of meaningless for me, because I don't have a full time job.
