Mono or Color

This is a post for Monochrome Monday hosted by @old-guy-photos, but as the title may suggest I am cheating a little, or maybe not cheating but veering off from it being just a monochrome post, as I had this shot I edited on the weekend and I did a Mono and a color version and I couldn't decide which one I preferred, so I would love if you have time to take a look at them both and let me know which one you prefer,

Since I am using the Monochrome Monday Tag let me share the mono version first

This shot was taken one morning as the sun was rising at Wildermeer Beach here in Milford, as I have shown in a previous post this beach has many of this worn structures along the beach and I find them cool to include in shots ass the sun is rising, and have edited most of them in color, but I decided to try this one in color and I quite like it, I think the sun stars stand out more and the wooden structure also looks better in Mono.

However, I also do love the color version maybe just for the colors and moodiness of the sky and hence why I decided to share both versions in this post.

I think it is pretty awesome how easily you can make a photo mono these days. I am sure the computer converting it doesn't get the tones and shades exactly right, but it is still pretty impressive.

YEah I have a few different ways i do the Mono images on the PC, some work better for some styles of images and some for others

Each creates a different mood for me. When I first glance at the first edit, I see crosses and desolation. The color edit suggests the sun rising on a new day, hopeful and warm. You picked a nice foreground to frame the sun.

I prefer the color version. You really made the colors pot, and I can still see the sunburst. It is the colors that make me prefer it. The mono-chrome one is a good picture, but I think the colors look and bring more drama to the picture. The colorization on the sand really makes the whole picture pop for me.

I have read the word apocalyptic in the comments, and I agree, but my first thought was that it could be from an old Western movie - I love the monochrome version - it looks so !DERANGED beautiful 😊
The colors of the are really great, but the monochrome is outstanding.

Yes I do get why someone called it Apocalyptic, but in a good kind of way, but then I am !DERANGED LOL, the color makes oen want to sit and enjoy the view and a !BEER

I meant it in a good and a bit !DERANGED kind of way too ;) - I love that monochrome 🙂
The colors are beautiful, as I said, and you are right, it makes you want to go there and enjoy the view, but if I had to decide which photo to hang on the wall I would not hesitate and take the monochrome :)

I was thinking myself if I was to print one which would I got for and I think I would go for mono myself

Yeah I am pondering that, I may do that when we move in the room I do photo editing, sort of !DERANGED maybe but covering the dark and light side LOL

It's good that the bot is working again and not drinking !BEER , because we have a !DERANGED bad weather here: It's cold and heavy raining.
My parents house is about 125 km away and a bit higher, but the have already had about 20 centimeters (7.87402 inch ;) snow this morning.

And even though it is bitterly cold today its a good day perhaps greta, II now have a firm date my last working day will be the 29th Of Feb, I am both excited and wondering what have I done LOL

If I only telecommute one day a week I have 54 working days left, but i will most likely step up my telecommuting so its probably more like 45 day in the office to go, and I am sure it will fly by :)

even thought its a good change there is always that in the back of your mind is it the right choice, but i do know it is

I have just come home from work - didn't have time for replies at work - I had to do the work I get paid for. Isn't that !DERANGED ?
If normal wouldn't be deranged, a lot of my colleagues would live in a lunatic asylum instead of at home.

I think, 5 workdays a week without a !BEER have become too much for me ;) lol

Yes Indeed that is !DERANGED I remember in the army days we of course had the rule no alcohol including !BEER and there were no fridges on most exercises , except for our Tech truck, we justified needing a fridge to keep the batteries cool, but i will admit I never saw a battery in the fridge LOL

Years ago in almost every office there has been a fridge - now only a few are left and the people put their lunch in them - that's a !DERANGED use of fridges, which have seen only !BEER for many years ;)

... but battery cooling was a real good idea ;) lol

Ohh I have come up with many creative solutions over the years also got fridges in the workshops in most missions we were in
The justification that time was for storing camera film and how !DERANGED is it when we put them in the budget no one asked why we needed film which we didn’t lol
So in one mission we called going for a !BEER going to see a film

How !DERANGED creative one can be to get something forbidden like a cool !BEER when he's not allowed to ;) lol
Today you could say the memory cards get too hot from shooting so much and you have to cool them down fast to avoid burns on the photos 😉

They both have parts to like, but amazingly, I think the mono has more impact.

They both look great Jay!! I want to say color because I love the colors, especially the color of the sun hitting the sand but then the mono keeps calling me back so I'm glad you posted both and so I love both! 💖 😁

I like the color one. The blue and yellow add additional contrast to the shadow. Did you take a look at a somewhat de-saturated version? That might be interesting, too. I really like the lens flare off the reflected light, with the sun hidden behind the wooden beam. It almost makes it look as if the sun fell on the ground.

They are both outstanding!
Totally different in gorgeousness... :D I think they bring different elements to the table, therefore should not be judged together... That's my version and I'm sticking to it anyway! Lol....
