Tropical trees of Cebu- Tree Tuesday

Before this day ends in my timezone, I want to participate to the challenge made by @old-guy-photos, the Tree Tuesday challenge. I will be sharing to you some tree photos I have taken last Sunday, when me and my co-workers went for a short vacation in the southwestern part of Cebu.

The first two photos were photos of a tree near the coastline of Moalboal, Cebu. This tree is the Terminalia catappa which has a lot of common names like indian-almond, tropical almond, sea-almond or beach-almond. These trees mainly grow in tropical region like asia. And here in my country, this is commonly called "Talisay". They are large trees that can grow up to size of a 2 or 3-storey building. They can grow on different textures and types of soil, thus naming them with different local names. They can grow on clay or moisten soil of tropics region.

One of the best memories I have with this kind of tree is way back my childhood where we're used to eat the edible part of the seeds of "Talisay". And it wasn't easy, you'll have to dig for soiled and dried up seeds and break them apart. The challenging part is making sure you'll never break the part you want to eat.

For the last two photos, I took them at the elevated and forest part of Barili, Cebu specifically on Dakit, Barili. We made a stop-over in this area to sip some fresh cow's milk. This place is called the Milk Station which is the commonly visited spot by the riders and tourists in the area.

The trees that can be seen in the area are mostly Mahogany trees and some assorted yet common ones. In this kind of landscape, trees were commonly planted by the locals in a presentable manner that will surely attracts individuals passing by, especially when rural roads are situated in the mountainous land and ridges.

To end this post,

I always take tree shots in this angle, an open way where you can see the blue sky in the background while trees are forming pleasing stretches of green shades through its leaves and trunks. But of course, I am so open for new techniques and ideas you can suggest.

Photos were taken by the author using Samsung J6 and were edited via Snapseed app.
