Things you don't learn in school! Health is wealth!

Today, life is difficult, we are exposed to so many chemicals, pesticides, and pollution that it is extremely difficult to live a healthy lifestyle.  We are so busy at work, that we don’t get time to go to the gym anymore or do the activities that are supposed to keep us healthy.  

We have less time to cook proper meals and we have less time to spend with our families.  Things that are actually a very important part of our lives are just pushed to the side so that we can complete our work or reach yet another goal.  

Many people are so tired when they get home, they just grab a ready-made meal or buy a takeaway because they are too tired to cook.  It’s so much easier to just buy food than to cook it right?

Who doesn’t love a good takeaway and then you don’t even have to clean up afterward? 

Did you know that MOST takeaways or fast food are bad for you?  Even though it is a lifesaver at times, even a salad takeaway has hidden sugar that is bad for you.  Just go and have a look at the menus of some of these restaurants. 

There are more calories in a chicken salad than in a burger! 

Even though we should only eat if we are hungry, many people believe in eating three times a day.  Is this really the right way to eat?  

People are animals too, and I have never seen a giraffe force their child to eat three meals a day.  That’s right, a giraffe eats only when it’s hungry so why should we eat any differently?

No animal forces their child to eat.  How many times have you been forced to clean your plate because a lot of effort was put into cooking? 

How many times have you been forced to eat something just because it is breakfast or lunchtime?

In my opinion, eating three meals a day is good IF you are hungry. Your body will tell you what it needs and when it needs it so perhaps it’s time to listen to our bodies instead of other people. 

Because we are always in a hurry with everything these days, we become overworked, tired, stressed and then ultimately, we go into a depression because we just can’t handle life anymore. 

We will discuss both the stress and depression topic in other posts, but now all you need to know is that both have a very large impact on your life.  

Too much stress causes other health issues, and ultimately our bodies cannot handle it anymore and we get a stroke or a heart attack.  

Guess what? That is your body that tells you that you must slow down.  Once you reach that point in your life, and you did not listen to all the warnings your body gave you, YOUR BODY brings life to a standstill.  

Now it is time to smell the roses.  Once you had a big health scare, it is then that people start to slow down and appreciate the little things in life.  

Let’s face it, none of us wants to die in pain and agony.  Old age perhaps, but if you can keep your body healthy and strong by eating the right foods, why wouldn’t you do it?

It’s time to go healthy!  Healthy foods don’t have to taste awful, and there are so many cookbooks out there that focus on a natural diet.  Go buy yourself a book and you will be amazed at the types of food you can eat while focusing on becoming a healthier person. 

It saddens me that something badly needs to happen for people to see the bigger picture here.  The saying you are what you eat is one of the truest sayings.  Focus on your health and you will live longer, feel stronger and you will even live longer.  

You should always remember that life is all about balance.  You need to juggle your own life, work-life, family-life and your spiritual life all in one.  If one of these is out of balance then things will start going wrong. 

Once you have found the right balance it will bring a sense of well-being that you wouldn’t be able to describe.  

Work is not everything and even though we must work to get money to survive, it is not the ultimate.  How many people on their deathbed have you heard saying:  "Oh, I wish I worked harder!" 

Very few will say that I suppose.  In 99 percent of all cases, the person dying would say that they wished that they spent more time with their families. Nobody is going to build you a statue when you fall over and die because of work.  It’s just not worth it!

Your health is ultimately the only thing that can keep you alive.  

Health is wealth indeed.  Don’t wait until it is too late to do something about health issues now.  Just do it!
