Ulog 135: Cold & Flu Season Is Coming- Using Spilanthes' Tincture To Help Ease The Season Ailments

(Edited)

With all my herbs and flowers soon to come to an end for another season, I decided to gather up the three I needed to make some cold and flu tincture to have on hand for the upcoming winter months.

But before we get into the recipe, I want to explain what Spilanthes are

Spilanthe, also known as the toothache flower/plany is defined by the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center:

Spilanthes, also known as the “toothache plant”, may have numbing and pain-relieving effects

For this recipe I needed lemon balm (which I have enough to face the apocalypse and then some), echinacea petals and leaves and Spilanthes flower buds and leaves.

Recipe

  • Handful each of fresh lemon balm leaves, echinacea flower petals and leaves, and Spilanthes flowers and leaves
  • Chop up ALL the flowers and leaves
  • Add Vodka (minimum of 80-proof) to completely cover ALL flowers and leaves

NOTE-I didn't have any Vodka so I used Ever Clear 150

Store in a sealed glass jar for a minimum of four weeks. Keep in a cool and darkened area and make sure to shake it daily during the four weeks that it's brewing.

We usually start with 1-teaspoon full three times a day when we feel a cold coming on. We space out the teaspoon amounts every 8 hours throughout the day.

Not medical advice. Each person's dosage may vary.

I know... last year they were full of red eyes. Not sure why not this year

Hmmmmm, I believe the ones I planted this year, I grew last year. Sometimes when you save seed over the years, they revert to the original. I wonder if mine will lose the eyeballs...
