1. Why do most people shy away from Poetry?

Before attempting to dig deep into the reason people always shy away from reading Poems, we need to note that ‘poetry, prose and drama are genres of literature.' But poetry is one of the branches of literature in which human language is employed with Aesthetic Ingredients. These Aesthetics Ingredients uniformly work arm in arm with any language employed by a Writer or Poet, such Aesthetic Ingredients are figurative word, repetition, meter, rhyme and others, are what are commonly used to distinguish poetry from other genres (prose and drama)

Poetry has become a powerful and useful medium employs in conveying one's thought, idea, emotion and experience to the world.
It is richer and deeper than drama or prose even though they are used as a medium of communication, and are preferred to Poetry today. But it is one of the medium of expressions that is uniquely dynamic from other forms. It is usually written in verse form unlike Prose. Sometimes, Poetry may be written in prosaic form depends on the Writer or Poet

However, today, it is not often appreciated, valued, and demanded in the market unlike other genres of literature. And most people do not truly acknowledge or fancy poetry, because they think that it's extensively flowery, figurative or stodgy; and it does not improve their state, whereas it is exceedingly appealing, edifying and uplifting; and it is one of the most beautiful artistic ARTS for exploring and painting ideas, experiences, emotions and motivated feelings. It is one of the most tremendous Aesthetics for exploring beauty, nature, environment and so on.

Many readers also tend to shy away from poetry because they find its creativeness obscure and sophisticated to the extent that they find it difficult to interpret a poem (written by poet) in a text. Some readers see it as something that is often filled with mysteries, complex metrical schemes, obscure allusions, and florid diction. They see it as a ‘code' or ‘puzzle game’ that needs to be deciphered through the means of analytical reasoning — they see the same Poetry as a closed DOOR which has a special key to unlock its uniqueness, ingredients, subject lines, and meanings embedded in it.

Without doubts, when interpreting a poem in literature, it often requires an absolute concentration which can beat one’s brain out. A Reader or _Literature Student- ought to take time to read closely in order to get the meaning out of a given work (poem).

In other words, when studying a literary text (poetry), our expectation is to carefully scrutinize a given poem – in other to unlock its meaning thereof, a close reading is needed, just like how Close Reading applies to other genres of Literature. In Literature, a reader ought to pay a ‘close reading’ to each line of the poem whether the poem is complex or simple enough to understand. What is required from a reader therefore is to look closely to the meaning and what constitutes the poem — this will utmostly help in understanding it. Ethically, It is said to be well-appreciated in Literature when a reader peruses a poem and give his or her own interpretation based on what he grabbed rather than based on Poet's Intent. However, not all poems are that difficult, and the ones that seem to be even difficult are often well worth the effort.

There is a lot to say pertaining to this genre of literature, if any question pertaining to it comes, I will humbly share my view.
