Round and round and round and round
Yes, repetitive title... but it's all @qurator's Photo Quest competition fault! This week's title? Repetition!
My choice for this one is a very cool lighthouse I visited in Italy, at the end of last year. It's in a little village called Brunate, near the margin of lake Como, and it's called Faro Voltiano, since it was dedicated to a scientist called Alessandro Volta (Faro means lighthouse in italian).
So, where one would find repetition in a lighthouse? In this case...
In a pretty cool spiral staircase!
The lighhouse is 29 meters high, so you do have some stairs to climb. Here he is from the outside.
And if you happen to visit and need some incentive to go up the stairs... here is the view from the top:
Brunate is already around 500 meters above the lake; add the extra meters from the lighthouse and what you get is an amazing view of the lake's margins, the villages all around, and the Alps in the background!
I did walk a lot further from the lighthouse, into the mountains, and there he was among the mist. A lot more stunning landscapes can be seen as you venture away from Brunate. If hiking isn't your thing... just enjoy the view from the ligthouse, it's beautiful enough! 🙂
