I agree Clearly, we can do better

Have you ever received an email like this?

Where you need to load images just to see the content.

This is poor email etiquette on many levels and I will just explain a couple.

First security

I never auto-load images. I don't like being tracked, unless I want to be. I don't like to waste bandwidth, even though I have lots to spare.

Bad things can happen with the wrong image type, and while this has been solved with baked in anti-virus, etc, why increase your threat surface.

Second is accessibility

If I relied on readers to access my email, maybe I'm blind, or prone to migranes when reading on a screen, this email communicates NOTHING and is spam.

This is especially ironic since this is a eyeglass company. They should be aware of this type of disability and be accommodating this communities needs in their marketing.

So yes clearly, you can do better.
