My top 5 Reggae bands! Have you heard of them?

(Edited)

I am a huge reggae fan, and simply love the country of Jamaica. I have traveled there a number of times in my lifetime, so many times that I have forgotten the exact number. Let's just say that I can't count the number of times on both of my hands combined (more than 10). But somewhere less than 20.

The music, the people, the food, the vibes, all centered around a common theme -- Respect. There has never been a time where I have felt threatened or even worried to the point where I felt uncomfortable. My travel spot is Negril. More posts in the future to come about some of my old and new travel experiences to the island of Jamaica. Stay tuned.

For now, I want to discuss my top 5 favorite Reggae bands of all time. Coming in no particular order, we have:

Black Uhuru

Black Uhuru has some great albums, and of my favorite is probably the album Red. Check out some of their songs if you haven't heard. They have some awesome vibrations and rasta surely got soul.

The Green

The Green has some awesome songs with meaningful lyrics associated with their intentions which are primed on soul. My favorite track is Wake up. This is a song I can listen to on repeat and never get tired of it. Wake up in the morning to Wake up by The Greeen, and you are set to have an irie day. Seeeeeeen Rastaaaaaa

Burning Spear

This man is a legend. He currently lives in Jamaica (New York). You wouldn't miss him walking down the streets of NYC with his long natty dreadlocks if you blinked twice. His voice is of the raspy type and he certainly knows how to throw it back to the days of JAH. We be Jaahminnggg, we be Jaahhminngg

Midnite

A band that has been around for soommmmme time now. Most of their songs are from back in the day, and if you search them on spotify, you will find albums upon albums of songs you never even knew existed. Midnite defines what reggae is all about. My two favorite tracks by them are 360 and Propaganda. You have to check these guys out if you are a reggae fan. Let me know what you think. YESSS MONNNNN

Groundation

An unorthodox reggae band to say the least. The lead singer has long, natty dreadlocks, but there's a catch -- he's a white man. Yes, you read that right. A white man. His voice is so soulful, and easily mistaken for a dark African American Rastamon. But don't be fooled however.

Have you heard of any of these guys? If not, check them out! They will not disappoint --- WE BE JAHMING MONNNNN'
