Rondeau from Abdelazer - Henry Purcell | Secrets of Organ Playing Contest Week 56

(Edited)

This is my entry for the Secrets of Organ Playing Contest Week 56. This was recorded on the Henry Willis organ in Salisbury Cathedral (England), using the Hauptwerk VPO software.

I'm playing Rondeau from Abdelazer by Henry Purcell. The irony for me for this week's contest entry is that the word is "No inspiration". I had an earlier plan to present something else but I was inspired to play this transcription because I heard it played by a friend, Dylan McCaig.

Being a classical musician, I've heard this movement before—but hearing it on the organ suddenly became more appealing to me. There are a plethora of arrangements for this movement but I'm playing the Maurizio Machella transcription. Organists will be familiar with Maurizio because he has an enormous output of scores available on the internet.

I hope you enjoy my rendition of this Purcell piece and a big shoutout again to Dylan for the inspiration for this week's contest.

This Rondeau reminds me of one film "Pride and Prejudice" with Keira Knightley". @leysa would know it well. !organduo 500
