June 19., 2020--Practice Blog in the time of the virus
Was a busy and productive day. It began with a trip to the church to practice organ. Two hours of that and I returned home for lunch. A couple hours of piano practice followed. I had an interview over Zoom as part of a search committee for a new choir director, and then another Zoom meeting. Now, getting ready for Dungeons and Dragons!
On the organ, practiced and recorded the first three versets of Guilmant's amazing Magnificat Op. 41, No. 2. Also worked on BWV 635 and 636. Will try to record 635 tomorrow for the secrets of organ playing contest. Finished practice with work on Couperin's sixth movement from the Mass for the Convents.
On the piano, I continued my memorization of a series of short works by Mendelssohn, Schumann, and Chopin and began work on Liszt's Valse Oubilee No. 1. Also tried to memorize the last page of Sibelius Romance in D-flat major. Practiced a postlude for Sunday based on Bless Be the Tie that Binds mixed with God Be with you Till We Meet Again.
