Little Cherine Book 06 - BPost034

“Will it damage us?”

She had a giggling fit. “It is just as well we decided to bring in Petra!”

She told me to stay in bed, she will bring me coffee and toast. She walked out in the nude, squealed and ran back as I jumped and ran to the door to protect her. I stared in shock and retreated.

We quickly put on some clothes as I explained to Jasmine. With her face still red we walked out.

“Something has happened Alki?”

“I’m sorry I embarrassed the two of you. Samuel, all Cherinians are celebrating today. I came on their behalf to welcome the new Cherinian to be born to us.”

I was shocked. Shocked so deeply I could not speak and sat down heavily. I thought the air shimmered and then a young girl of about sixteen stood before us. She shook her head at Alki and turned to me. I blurted out, “You must be Cherine.”

“That was a good guess.” She kissed my cheek and went to Jasmine. “May I?” She put her fingers to Jasmine’s cheek and smiled. “Welcome, you will be a good addition. Alki, she must dance with us as soon as the foetus is ready.”

“I don’t think so Cherine. We must talk to his Robert and Cherine first. They may want them back on their world.”

“No. This child belongs to us. We’ve known that for nearly ten years now.” I was surprised to see that though he did not seem to agree, he gave in to her. I decided she must be very powerful. They both laughed.

“She is powerful Samuel. Why do you think we are called Cherinians? It is in honour of her. She is the first Cherinian and only through her are we Cherinians. Time for that later, I think Jasmine is confused and afraid, we owe her an explanation.”

I urgently needed an explanation, but I waited for them to finish with Jasmine. Most of what they told her about Cherinians was new to me also and I listened with fascination. When I heard that she, our baby, Petra, Sera and Aleka will live forever, I broke down and wept with joy. I knew that now I will leave with a heart much lighter, hugging my joy to myself as I drift within the mind of my original.

“What did you mean when you said my child belongs to you?”

“We will return when Petra and Sera are here. We will tell you then. Things have to be done in the right order Samuel.” I was looking into her eyes as she spoke and I saw why Alki had not argued with her. I nodded, already captivated by what I’ve seen in her. If I’d thought for a time that Meli was a goddess, I knew that Cherine truly is one.

“No Samuel, just what you would call a ‘strange’ girl. Take care of each other.” She gave a cheeky smile and disappeared.

“I better leave also, I do have a business to run. Don’t worry about the kids, Perikli will see to it that their names fall through the cracks. Careful of what you tell the two, Samuel.”

Robert: As their Cherine said, it is good to do things in the right order so I will interpose our side of the story here. It seemed as if Samantha had only just left when Cherine from the world she is on appeared. She told us of all that has happened and let us see what Samuel is going through.

“He would be a good Sam for us, we do not mind that he is a male. Including his daughter, he will start with a family of five. They all love him.”

“Cherine, the decision is not ours to make. Only Sam has the right to.”

“I agree. Robert, I do not think she will refuse him, so I wanted to know that it is not a problem for any of you.”

My Cherine smiled at me, so I put my arm around Cherine and hugged her. “Another Sam, male or female, makes us all richer Cherine. We will have to consider carefully how much of the memories of our Sam should be passed on to him.”

Aleka used one of the other healers to confirm Jasmine is pregnant.

“You work fast!” She hugged Jasmine, thinking her glow is from the pregnancy only. I went and sat with Harvey and Shida.

“We are pleased for you Samuel. Now you do not fear the future?”

I smiled, giving them both a quick hug. “Jasmine has some more news.”

She told them of our visitors and what had been said. Petra and Aleka both looked frightened, but I think it was awe at what life will be like. Sera looked upset and then she burst into tears. The ladies tried to explain to her that what is to happen is good, but that made her cry even more. Between her sobs she managed to speak.

“I don’t want to, Sam will not be with us.” That got them all crying and my two friends looked away so that I would not see the tears in their eyes.

“Sera, you are wrong.” She looked at me. “You will have my child, a part of me will be here with you forever. Love my child and it will be as if you are loving me.”

She shook her head vehemently (I think it is the first time ever for her). “No. I want you.”

I asked my friends to go for a drink with me. At first we did not have much to say, all three of us deep in our thoughts. Harvey spoke first.

“What is your secret Samuel, how is it that all the females we have met till now have loved you?” I shrugged, not able to answer.

“He cares about them Harvey, they sense it.”

“I cared for them, so did you.”

“I meant they could feel he loves them without criticising. He does not look for what is good or bad in them, he loves them as they are. The two of us, we also judge them. The fact that we then love them is not the same.”

“Shida, if what you say is true, I would prefer to have the love of you two than my own.”

“No, Shida is right. I never feel I have to prove anything with you. If I am not as clever as you it does not matter, because you care for me as I am.”

“I am not as strong as you Harvey and my morals are more lax than yours, does that make a difference to you?”

“The strength, that is nothing. Your morals, yes, they do worry me.” He grinned as he said it.

In my stupid fashion I told them the truth. “If I had been given the choice of two companions, I do not think I would have chosen either of you. The one I would have chosen would have been Erin, even if he is a difficult and stubborn fool at times. Now I am glad I was not given the choice, both of you have become closer friends than I remember ever having.”

“Melios too?”

“He was a childhood friend…” I hesitated, remembering that all my memories of childhood were false. “Yes, including Melios, your friendship means more to me.”

Shida laughed joyfully. “Do you see why they love him Harvey?”

He smiled, his eyes troubled. “No, I only see why I love him. I cannot imagine life without him around to give us problems.”

Samuel the original, I have written words about me I would have left out, for you to read. I cannot help thinking that when you created me you did so out of yourself, giving me the qualities that earned the comments, so they reflect on you. I hope they give you as much pleasure as they did to me.

* * * * *

The police had followed the nine other children Pavlos has, seven girls and two young boys, kept details of the men they had sex with and followed them back to the old house they stayed in. They waited for the policemen to arrive and aiming directional microphones at the house recorded what they said. When they heard they were in the bedroom with the girls, they broke in and arrested them. They took photos of them on the bed with the children for the court case. Pavlos was also arrested.

Alki phoned me to give us the news and said the children have to stay with the Authorities for a few days while they are examined by doctors and statements are taken. They will try to identify the parents of the children and those wanted by them will be returned. The rest of them will then be turned over to the new home he has set up.

“Alki, Petra asks whether she can visit the children. She says that if she talks to them, they will not be so afraid.”

“Not if we are to keep her name out of it.”

“Would it be possible for you to arrange for them to be taken to a restaurant for a good meal? We could also be eating there and she can have a quick word with them. Alki, she says they are taught to fear the police, they are told they will be tortured.”

“I’ll suggest it. I’ll tell them it would be an opportunity for Tasso and his family to get to know them so that they do not fear being sent to him.”

We saw them at a restaurant and Harvey wore a face of grief as he saw them. All of us were hurting, but we had been instructed not to heal the children. Alki told us that only life threatening problems should be dealt with and even they should only be just enough to ensure they will live at least another month. It would not be good for them to appear in court vibrant and healthy. It went against our instincts, but it made sense in the perverted way things make sense in this world.

I can sense that what we are experiencing is changing Harvey more than any of us. He is coming to realise that direct reactions are not always the best course to take. He fights against the changes in himself, but he cannot ignore all he is learning. Wherever he is returning to, he will be a better person.

Petra and Sera have moved in with us. Sera sleeps in the lounge, but we are looking for a larger apartment. The first night they joined us I was told to take Sera out and Jasmine had a long talk with Petra. I understand she told her about my ignorance of sex and a few things that made Petra laugh a lot. I do not know whether I am supposed to feel slighted, but the truth is it does not matter. As long as she helped Petra understand that whatever I do is done with love.

I knew our healers had repaired her body, but I was worried about her mind and was as gentle and considerate as I could be, considering my still large lack of knowledge about the female body and how it adjusts to the male body. Petra was surprised (as Jasmine and I were) when I had difficulty in entering her. Afterwards Jasmine examined her and told me she had been a virgin. Petra protested that it is impossible, so I suggested the healers may have been responsible. That delighted her and she asked whether my healer can make her a virgin again. I asked why and she told me that she knows men love making love to a virgin and she wants to give me that pleasure again and again. I told her that I do not understand why it would please any man, surely it would give more pleasure knowing a female has already experienced his lovemaking and wants him again? I saw that I had said something weird in the way my two loves looked at each other.

Jasmine had insisted that the first night belong to Petra only, but after our first time she became part of our loving. A strange thing happened to me and I soon saw it was happening to them also. I would touch them and feel my touch within my own body, sensing their reaction to my touches. They confirmed it was happening to them also. When we had our climax it happened to all three of us at the same time and it was such an explosion we were left gasping. We heard the tinkling of laughter and Cherine appeared at the foot of our bed.

“That was a gift from us so that you can know what to expect when you are all Cherinians. Petra, would you bring Sera to us?”

3834

She sat grinning until Sera came in. Petra had warned her we have a visitor and she looked at her fearfully. Cherine touched her cheek and smiled at her. Sera seemed to blossom and she let Petra place her alongside me. I smiled at her and put my arm around her. She snuggled up against me happily, not seeming to mind that I was naked.

“Samuel, before I start, if you do not mind, I would like to ask the girls, if I could do only one thing for you, what would you ask for?”

“We want Samuel to stay with us.”

“Samuel, I have been to your original family and they have told me they will not object if you stay. Only the original Sam has to agree for it to become official. Would you agree to my blanking your mind for a short time so as to allow the original Sam out?”

“But how could that happen? This is his body!”

“It can be done so that each of you have your own body. Do not worry about it Samuel, only whether Sam will agree. I do warn you, for the decision to be made, Sam will need to see all you have experienced and thought. Do you agree?”

I saw the anxious eyes of my loves on me and I shrugged. “I don’t have an option. Cherine, if he refuses it will make it more difficult for my loves. I hope you know what you are doing.”

“So do I, Samuel. Girls, be prepared for a surprise. Do not tell him about it afterwards.”

Without waiting for them to promise, she did something to my mind and I passed out. I had vague recollections of someone rifling through my mind and then everything faded away.

“Welcome back Samuel.”

I shook my head, puzzled, it did not feel as if time had passed. I saw the faces of my girls and goosebumps burst out all over me. I could feel the hairs on my arms standing up.

Cherine stood up. “I guess I better get going. Samuel, do not send Sera out of the room again. She also needs to be touched and loved. Just do not penetrate her yet.”

“But…but…what happened?”

She gave me an amazing smile, little imps in her eyes teasing me. “Oh, did I forget to tell you? I’ll let the girls tell you.” She jumped.

Despite my anxiety I could not help saying to the girls, “Did you see her smile!”

Jasmine laughed. “Girls, we have a problem. Not satisfied with having three of the most gorgeous girls in Athens in his bed, he is already rhapsodising about the smile of another girl.” What with the teasing and being playfully hit by pillows, I knew they were drunk with happiness. I grabbed Sera.

“Come on you little minx, you tell me.”

“Go on, tell him Sera.”

She looked into my eyes, tried to speak and burst into tears again. I motioned for the others to keep quiet. “I want to hear it from you my sweet girl. It will be special if you tell me.”

“She agreed.”

“No, not Cherine, I meant, what did Samuel say?”

“Her name is Samantha.” I saw from the other two that she was not meant to tell me. I gave a puzzled smile.

“Samantha? So my original is a girl? Is she nice?”

“Yes.” She hid her face against my neck. “I forgot, I wasn’t supposed to tell you she is a girl.”

3835

“I can’t think why they would want to keep it a secret. She really said I can stay?”

Jasmine answered, “She said to say she is sorry, she does not want to leave yet, but when it is time, she will make you your own body.” I could tell that even now Jasmine could not believe what she was saying.

“That is fair I suppose. Not that I understand why she would want a man’s body.”

There were some nervous titters and then Jasmine told me, “It changed when she came Samuel. You became a girl of about eleven.”

“It does not make sense! Alki said I was married to Meli!”

“She is. When she saw what Alki told you she had a good laugh and told us to explain that you are married to all the wives of Robert, because she is also married to him.”

Petra giggled. “She said that with you having five wives already, you will be like her someday.”

“Five wives?” I did not like the sound of that. I could see Jasmine did not either, but the other two did not mind. She murmured, “Leave that for later Samuel, just be happy for now that you will be staying with us.” She grinned. “We should be going out to celebrate.”

“What could I do to celebrate that would be better than holding my loves to me?” I had a very happy few hours and my sweet little Sera was not ignored. I had learnt by then of the pleasure my lips and tongue can give and I saw to it that she had as much loving as the others. Seeing how tiny her sex was made it clear to me why I had been warned by Cherine.

When they were all asleep I carefully moved out from under them and quietly dressing, I went to my old apartment. I knocked on the door until they opened for me.

“What’s wrong?”

Beaming I told them and their happiness completed this night for me.

Jasmine continued her lessons, now teaching both girls. The three of them spent many hours with Aleka so as to give me time with my friends. Aleka’s reputation has spilt over onto the internet and she is having to deal with the demands of many foreigners. She allots an hour to them each day, always choosing the children first. There are some of them who have waited for her for weeks, one Englishman for nearly two months. She refuses to see him because he has nothing wrong with him, he is a hypochondriac, and even our arguments cannot persuade her to change her mind.

“What do you want me to do Petra. If I see him, I sacrifice seeing one person really in need. And then? He goes home and soon is sick again and tells everyone I could not heal him. He can stay here until he dies, I will not waste time on him.”

I must be honest. After what Cherine said, and Samantha, I would secretly watch Aleka and wonder at their words. I love her, but as a friend, nothing about her attracts me physically. She is also much older than me and sometimes acts like an elder relative. I cannot imagine her in my bed. Jasmine understood how I feel, but I suspect Petra and Sera do not.

I asked where the name Sera comes from and Petra found it funny. “It is not her real name. The first day Pavlos brought her to us she had been crying and was very nervous. When she was asked her name she stuttered and all that came out was ‘Sera’, so that became her name.” I decided I liked the name and she was happy with it, so Sera she will remain.

I have been too busy to write much. I did have a meeting with Alki to discuss what I can do about earning enough to support my family, but he told me not to worry, a Cherinian fund will support us while I study a new trade. I still think of myself as a soldier, but having read more on the subject, I now understand my knowledge and ideas about soldiering are inherited from Meli. That means I am no good at anything. Quite a disturbing discovery.

With three young women to love, keep company and care for, I do not have much time for myself, but I do not miss any such lack. Love and being loved is still novel and too much of a miracle for me to worry about anything else. Both my older lady loves have asked that I spend as much time as possible with Sera. We are not happy with her easy acceptance of the changes in her life. She accepts anything that happens with a smile and is always loving. Having heard more details of her previous life I cannot help wondering whether the love she shows me is any different from what she showed Pavlos. Smaragda calls it a defence mechanism - whatever that really means.

3836

Cherine came to visit because she said our baby is about to acquire her soul. She helped us feel what is happening and Jasmine cried for hours afterwards. Cherine is linking to Jasmine so that she can communicate with her daughter. I had not expected to feel so envious and I hound poor Jasmine all the time, wanting reports on any changes. Since the other girls are just as eager, I am not considered as tiresome as I would otherwise be.

Anna now knows that this is her last school year as they will then be returning to their home planet. They are all excited, nervous and curious as to why they chose to come here for so long. I think it was for the same reason the three of us came here; to learn about ourselves.

At last the children are free to be moved to their new home. There is one important ‘luxury’ offered them that I have not heard of in other ‘homes’ for children. Each child gets their own bedroom and it will belong to each child until it becomes an adult and leaves. If the child goes to university and it wishes to stay at home it will have the room until it marries, gets a job or offers the room back. Aleka has taken a personal interest and become friends with Tasso and his family. She suggested that they examine common problems experienced by families so as to adjust their rules. For instance, just one example she gave. A number of children in their teen years fight with their family, declare independence and then after a while return to the shelter of their family. She says the children should be given the same emotional support.

My girls are all spending time with the children, but Harvey, Shida and I work with Tasso. It is amazing how many problems come up. Plumbing, the electrical wiring and heating of water for so many children are a few of the things we’ve had to learn about. We also built an outdoor gym and playground with a small wooden house for the girls to play ‘doll’ in. These are considered by us as ‘luxuries’ so we do not ask the fund for money and build what we can ourselves. Each child has been told they should take their time to consider what and how they want their rooms to be laid out - shelving for books, a desk to study at and so on. The older kids do create a number of unusual problems, but the wife of Tasso only smiles and says it should be expected after the life they have led. She is firm but very loving. I suppose that being Cherinians helps them do the right thing for the kids.

I am worried about Jasmine. She does too much considering she is carrying a child and I have my healer examine her on a daily basis (okay, sometimes more than once or twice). The fact that she does not attend her lectures on a regular basis also upsets me and we argue about it. One worry I do not mention to her is why she has not introduced me to her family. She always goes alone and on her return she says they send their regards, but there is something about the way she says it that convinces me she is lying. Aleka councils patience, so I will let her do as she wishes until she can see for herself she harms us all with what she is doing.

Everyone is right about Sera. We test her sometimes in the hope of provoking her, getting an angry response, but she stays as sweet as ever. The only indication that something is not right at such times is that she clings to us more than usual and then has nightmares that night. When I hear her cry in her sleep it breaks my heart. Alki is arranging for a friend of his to see her on a regular basis. Since he is a professor, I am hoping he will find a way to help us help her.

It was a big moment when Alki invited all of us for supper. The evening went very well and he charmed everyone. After the meal he took us to his home - to me it looks more like a palace! Aleka, Smaragda and Petra made us coffee and then we sat to listen to what he had to tell us.

“Apart from Samuel, many of you do not know the full truth about yourselves. Let us start with the first family. Smaragda, Angelo and Anna, when you arrived here nearly ten years ago, you caused us a small problem. For you and the others to understand I better first help you understand what realities are, how they are formed and how important time becomes.”

We all listened in fascination as he did so in simple terms. Once we understood why the local Cherinians had to be so careful about us learning anything about them that we should not know in the time of our originals, he reverted to the family.

“The three of you represent yourselves in some way, you are a family in your own reality and time. Certain changes have been made for specific purposes and I think it would be safe to say you achieved what you came here for. It has been interesting watching you experiment and we have learnt a lot from you.

3837

The next three, Shida, Harvey and Samuel, you are also personae created for an experiment of your own. Samuel knows what he needs to know, so let me concentrate on the two of you.

Harvey and Shida, you both are not what we call Terrans. You each are from a species that died out in the distant past. Robert found your souls, battled both of your species and, sorry, yes, both of you attacked him. It turned out that your real war was not with him, but each other. Please do not become disturbed by what I will say. Both your species became extinct about twelve million years ago. Robert is busy re-creating your planets as they were at that time and your people are to be brought back to their bodies, umm, he is going back in time to take cells from your original bodies and a great number of Cherinian healers are recreating your bodies in the billions. Can you understand now why the Cherinians of this world are in awe of your Robert and Cherine?

When your species waged war on Robert, he captured a number of your souls. Out of those he created the two of you. He risked the life of his newborn daughter in the hope of finding a way to break you out of your cycle of hate. He did succeed at great cost to him and both of you love him. One of you, I am not at liberty to say which one, loved him and his family so much that you became part of his family.

From what we understood, your first adventure on the world of Meli was solely for the fun of it. It gave all of you the opportunity to get to know each other without the past affecting you.” He grinned. “I will tell you one thing, because I want to see your faces when I do. All the males were females and Roberto, husband of nearly all of you, the only male, became your little Princess Thina. That was the real purpose of that month, giving you the opportunity to know what it is like for a male to care for a female child. It was his gift to all of you. Samuel, you are wrong, Roberto was as you were, he did not recall who he is and his love was real. The history Meli created for all of you he shared in, and he really was the princess.

Roberto asked the two of you to resume your personae of that trip and stay here for three years, as he hoped it will help you rid yourselves of unconscious distrust and hatreds. I think he has succeeded, but that will only be proven once you return to your real lives. As for Samuel, he already knows that he is Samantha, daughter of Roberto and wife. She has her own daughter with him.”

I was in shock again. I’d known I was Samantha, but not who she was in relation to the family, not in such detail. I felt my face burning as the others stared at me. Alki had a good laugh out of it, until Sera crept into my arms and stared back at him with wounded eyes.

“I’m sorry, even as a Cherinian it is still possible to find humour in shocking others. Roberto has been a bad example in making it acceptable. There is a further purpose in my telling you all this. When you return to your original selves you will not stop existing. You will be absorbed and yet also become part of your original selves. There is no reason for you to fear it. You do not become less than you are now, you become more. Imagine you go to an island for a few weeks, and so as to enjoy yourselves you make yourselves forget most of your lives here so that worries or problems here do not spoil your holiday. On return to Athens your memories are released, the two ‘lots’ merged into one.”

“What about me?” I asked.

“Samantha has agreed to split herself into two. Within her a copy of you will exist, but he will be a shadow not affecting her strongly, otherwise she would suffer, missing those you love here. You will receive a copy of her memories, but they too will be a shadow of who she is, so that you do not become confused by her being a female. Samuel, you have inherited from her many good qualities, as if she were your mother. You have however developed into a unique personality with strengths of your own. The two shadows converging will be of benefit to both of you.”

“What made you decide to tell us from now?” Angelo asked.

“I am forced to because of Samuel. Jasmine is expecting his child and the child must be a Cherinian. We should not wait for it to be born. We cannot do that with neither of the parents as Cherinians. Cherine wishes to link Jasmine from now, so that she can decide for herself about her daughter.” He stared into her eyes, very serious now. “You were told not to tell Samuel he was female. The caution turned out not to be necessary, he does not have the same frail male ego I have, for instance. Jasmine, for you to agree to become a Cherinian, it means you will learn all we know of what happened to us, but also the other families of Robert and Cherine. They must not learn anything of these years.

I see you understand. We have a number of choices. Allow your baby to develop as a Normal, but it will be at a cost to her. Or, we cut short the time for everyone here and you return to your real lives so that we can make Jasmine, Samuel, Petra and Sera, Cherinians at the same time. The last choice is, to make you and your baby Cherinians, we’ll have to block your minds with regard to our history, the part of it Samantha must not learn of.

3838

The last option is the least desirable in many ways. Blocking does not always work out the way it was meant to. Samantha has also shown an eagerness to share in the growth and birth of your baby, she will share from you at the time you are given your own body Samuel - from both of you…Jasmine, if you agree. If you choose the first option, it will be partly for her sake.”

I spoke quickly, to forestall Jasmine making the wrong decision, “Alki, I am prepared to wait for Samantha’s sake. Not Jasmine alone however. Make all the ladies Cherinians, so that they can share in the experiences of our baby. In a way our child will belong to all of them. I think you should include Aleka also.”

“We did not offer that choice for a reason Samuel. There is a slight possibility, very slight, but it exists, that the five of them could be drawn into creating a family circle and if even one of them does not love you as wholeheartedly as the others, you might find yourself excluded. Your daughter will not sense you directly as a Cherinian, where only her mother is a Cherinian, she will feel the love of her mother for you as the strongest emotion and love you too. If they are all Cherinians and they become family, she will have the love between them overriding any love felt for you.”

“Why can’t I become a Cherinian and you block my memories?”

“With you Samuel? The way you dig away at the slightest hints? Apart from that, when you and Samantha merge, all blocked knowledge would be released.”

The girls decided they wanted to wait for me. I thought about it. It was tempting to accept their offer, it will not be pleasant feeling excluded, but I decided it will not be fair. I did not have to speak, Alki felt or knew my thoughts and sighed.

“Aleka at least should wait.”

“No. I will not run the risk of her being excluded later, she is part of our family.” She gave a start, her face pale.

He nodded to the others. “That is how I would expect a Samantha-Samuel to react. The Cherinians of this world will become much stronger the day he becomes a Cherinian.”

With a hug and kiss for each of my loves, a hug and kiss also for Aleka who clung to me weeping, Angelo, his family and I left the house so that Cherine and the other Cherinians can visit, link them and take them dancing. Harvey and Shida left us, obviously wanting to discuss what they’d learnt on their own. We sat at a coffee shop for those hours and I tried very hard to only be happy for my loved ones. Anna made it easier for me by sitting on my lap and when she fell asleep against my chest I felt how precious all children are in the way they evoke emotions in us that are pure and deeper than anything else in life.

Angelo smiled. “Soon you will be holding your own daughter.”

“If she wants me to. Are you eager to return home?”

“I am curious. When I first heard we were Cherinians, I still thought of myself as male and the two of them female. After learning about you, I realise the possibilities are endless. For us to be family there, what does that mean?”

“I have a feeling that whatever the truth is, it will be the right thing for all of you and you will be happy.”

“I have been imagining a scenario. What if Angelo wants a child and I was refusing him so we had Anna here for me to learn what it is like.”

“I don’t think so Smaragda. I do not think that is how it works with Cherinians. That would be a form of coercion, even emotional blackmail. Who would Anna be then?”

“I hope we love her very much, whoever she is, because after having her here, I know I will continue to adore her.”

3839

I was feeling a little bit sad deep inside me, so I said, “I wonder if these games Cherinians play are right. They say their gifts are based on empathy and yet they create new human beings and then swallow them up, turning them into a set of memories only. That is not what we are. We think, we feel, we exist and what they do is a form of killing us. What of my love for Harvey and Shida, it breaks my heart to think they will leave here and stop existing.”

“Would meeting their originals help?”

“No. How would meeting Anna help if I love you?”

Angelo said, “We are not in a position to understand Samuel. I cannot believe they would willingly do anything to hurt anyone.”

“I have forty two reasons to feel hurt. We became a group, facing adversity together. My sweet little princess, I still love her, and yet not only does she not exist anymore, she never existed! That is cruel Angelo.”

“I wish I knew enough to answer you.”

“Then promise me that when you do, you will return to explain.”

“I promise.”

When the ladies walked in I saw they were no longer my girls. These were radiant beings, beautiful beyond anything I had imagined. They had a new light way of walking as if their feet do not need to touch the Earth. I gave Anna to Smaragda and stood up, my heart setting itself for the knowledge that they no longer love me.

Sera broke rank and ran to me and I caught her, raising her in my arms. Her face before me, I saw it was beaming, her eyes darker than I recalled.

“Samuel, (she pronounced my name as Sam-u-el) it is so beautiful!”

“You look like you’ve turned into a princess.”

She giggled and hugged me. My eyes met those of Jasmine and I knew she had been reading me, my emoting as they call it. I shrivelled into myself, trying to stop any emotions. She brushed her fingers against my cheek.

“Samuel, how can you think we no longer love you? Becoming Cherinians only helped us open our hearts to you, it did not shut us off from our love for you.”

“He feels he is not worthy of us Jasmine. Samuel, I am still Petra, the little prostitute girl you saved and loved.” She touched my hand. “Samuel, even if you could not become a Cherinian, we would still love you for being the man you are.”

“I am just a character in a story, I am not a man. She chose what I would be like. How can you love that.”

“I don’t understand Samuel, what is the difference? You still are the person you always were, the one who taught me how to love.”

“The pupil should never stay with the teacher or else the pupil cannot grow beyond him.”

“What nonsense is this!” Aleka pushed the two girls out of her way. “Samuel, whether you are feeling afraid or sorry for yourself, it does not give you the right to hurt those who love you.”

“If I’m feeling both, does that give me the right?” Angelo laughed and put his hand over his mouth to stop himself. I shut my eyes and dug my fingers into Sera’s hair. “You are right Aleka. I’m sorry. When I saw all of you I was sure you could not love me anymore. You may not realise it, but you don’t look the same anymore. It is as if you have become nuns.”

“Nuns!? What are you talking about!”

“You’ve got that look on your faces, as if you’ve just seen God.”

Jasmine smiled. “I’ll have to remember that one. Nuns! Samuel, do you know what happens after you’ve been dancing in the void?”

“You become Cherinians?”

She laughed. “Cherine made us Cherinians, not the void.” She brought her face close to mine to speak softly. “Haven’t you realised what Sera is doing?” Sera stopped and looked at Jasmine shyly and I realised she had been humping her hips at me. “We are all suffering from the need to have our man love us.”

Sera said, a bit too loudly, “She wants you to fuck her Samuel.”

Luckily there were only a few customers still in the shop and they were busy talking and Angelo and Smaragda moved away to give us some privacy, a grin on their faces at my embarrassment. Jasmine flushed and Aleka looked elsewhere, as if she had suddenly discovered something else interesting. I grinned and Sera grinned back at me.

“Sera love, we are going to have to have a talk soon. Jasmine, are you saying that the dancing made you all feel sexy?”

“Not the dancing Samuel, that is beautiful. It is going to the void that does it. Coming back does not feel right and we feel as if we are trying to return there. We need you to hold us here, make this world more real for us.”

As we walked out, I asked, “Sex makes this world more real? You want your dream man to make it more real for you?”

Jasmine told me off, “You ask too many questions Samuel, at a time you should be hurrying to take care of us.”

As we went past the apartment block of Aleka she made to leave us, but Jasmine grabbed hold of her and Petra joined her. “You are coming with us.”

“No, no, you must be alone with him.”

“Don’t be silly, we belong together.” I stood like an idiot, not willing to understand them.

“He would not want me, I am old and ugly.”

As one the two girls put their arms through hers. “You are coming. It has to be tonight Aleka.”

She looked at me, as if appealing for me to save her. “Samuel, tell them I’m not welcome. I am a spinster, too old to change my ways now.” In a rush she confided. “I’m a virgin.”

I’d accepted by now that my loves wanted her with. I grinned. “So was I, but Jasmine taught me. It isn’t difficult to learn Aleka and it is fun.”

She shook her head at my answer, muttering, “You men are all disgusting,” but I noticed she did not fight the girls anymore as we walked. Sera opened the top of my shirt and placed her face against my skin.

Soon as we entered the bedroom Petra said, “Sera first Samuel, she cannot wait.” I looked at Aleka, but she pretended to be looking elsewhere. I placed Sera on her feet on the bed and helped her undress. Soon as she was naked she began to open the buttons of my shirt and I stared down at her face, fascinated by the intensity of her concentration. Soon as she had my trousers down she moaned as her little hands pulled at my underpants.

I wondered what was I supposed to do. Until now my loving of her had been very tender and gentle, but even as naïve as I was about little girls, it was obvious she was not going to be satisfied with that. I glanced over at Aleka, expecting to see a warning look, and was shocked to see her intense fascination.

It was Petra who advised us. “Sera, if you want Samuel to fuck you tonight, tell your healer to make it easier for him to get in. He is scared of hurting you.”

Sera was not in the mood for long tender caresses and as I lay down next to her she asked me outright to put it in her. Despite her, I leant over and kissed her first and my lips trailed down her body. I was aware of her bucking body as she tried to hurry me along, but what struck me was her scent. She has never had such a delightful scent, a mixture of little girl and sexual aromas filling my nostrils. I gave in to her needs and moving my body over hers, I let her fingers guide me.

Once Sera had her second orgasm and I my first, she nestled up to me happily. I put my arms around her and she settled down, snoozing for a few minutes. She woke up with a start and pulled away with a quick kiss and polite thank you.
