Sonic Groove Live, Week 25 | Domenico Zipoli, Tocada

avatar

This is my entry for the Sonic Groove Live Contest, week 25. I play a Tocada by the Italian born Spanish composer Domenico Zipoli.

It's not indicated as such in the score, but I thought it nice to use all three manuals, with stops in slightly different tonal colours. And the acoustical result is rather nice I think. With frequent manuals changes like this there is always the risk of moving your hands sideways a bit as well as moving up or down, and thus hitting the wrong notes on the other manual. With a lot of concentration I managed to play all manual changes correctly. And after the last note I let all concentration go and hit the lowest manual... As I am satisfied about the rest of the recording, I decided to to leave it as it is, with exta note and all.

The recording was done with the Hauptwerk software and the sampleset, made by Sonus Paradisi, of the Schittger organ in the St. Martini-kerk, Groningen (http://www.sonusparadisi.cz/en/organs/netherlands/groningen-st-martini.html).

Score: This piece was taken from an edition that is free for download here: http://miguelpjuarez.blogspirit.com/archive/2011/06/22/titulo-de-la-nota.html
