El mundo del arte románico, también tenía numerosas claves y recursos, donde los gremios de canteros enmascaraban en ocasiones conceptos y alusiones de eminente carácter heterodoxo, cuyo contenido no hubiera sido, desde luego, bien visto por la férrea disciplina de la Santa Madre Iglesia.

Hermoso edificio, así mismo de planta octogonal, el modelo de rotonda, en imitación del Sepulchrum Domini de Jerusalén, lo tiene en su exterior, lugar que simbólicamente era recorrido tres veces por los peregrinos antes de penetrar en la iglesia y presentar sus respetos a la imagen románica de Santa María, en la actualidad una bella reproducción de la original, perdida hace muchos años de una forma misteriosa.

Son muchos los misterios que envuelven esta solitaria ermita, que se levantó enfrente de un monte que lleva el nombre de Lizarra o Estrella –como otra población navarra de especial relevancia- en alusión a ciertos hechos sobrenaturales que se desarrollaron en él hace siglos y fueron recogidos por la Tradición en forma de poéticas leyendas, pero les referiré dos, que espero les resulten interesantes.

Y el segundo, una fantástica representación de una cabeza adornada con una especie de curioso tocado, en forma espiral, que recuerda, salvando oportunamente las distancias, aquél otro que portaba en su cabeza una de nuestras Damas más universales, la Dama de Elche, pero que, estremecedoramente, si le damos la vuelta a la fotografía, veremos, claramente definida, la figura de un demiurgo, que tal vez, como afirman algunos investigadores, sea una referencia al misterioso ídolo Baphomet –antes de sacar conclusiones precipitadas, bueno es saber que hay quien afirma que ésta palabra es en realidad una clave que hace alusión a Sophia, la Sabiduría y no al Diablo- al que supuestamente adoraban los templarios.

En definitiva, un pequeño atisbo de esos misterios con los que en ocasiones el Arte nos sorprende, nos sobrecoge y nos anima a seguir perseverando en el descubrimiento de su mensaje más oculto y hasta podría llegar a decirse que trascendental.
