UEFA Super Cup: Liverpool 2-2 Chelsea (5-4 Pens)

First off all, I am honoured that my country hosted such an important sport event and it was completed without any issues.

As for the game, Liverpool was favourite and for me as well. However, Chelsea's great play for half an hour till the end of the first half surprised the audience. It could have been 0-2. Liverpool started the second half with Roberto Firmino substitution and soon he directed ball into Mane's path to score.

At 95' Roberto Firmino sent a return pass to Mane and he did a finesse shot to the underside bar (2-1). Few mins later the Spanish goalkeeper Adrian put Abraham down with his feet in the penalty area. After a VAR check, Jorginho scored the penalty.(2-2)

The match went to penalties. After shootout, the history repeated itself for Liverpool again. Liverpool won the UEFA Champions League in the same way after penalty shootout in Istanbul, 2005.

I have to mention one more thing, the female referee Stephanie Frappart. She was the first woman to ever officiate a major men’s game. She did really a good job on the pitch. I think she has changed the aspect of the male-dominated football industry and become an example for her fellow.

I don't keep up with sports (other than watching the occasional Olympic competition), but it is encouraging that you mentioned the female referee! That is awesome! 😃
