We are now just over two weeks away from the big Premier League kick-off and all the leading sides are cranking up their pre-season preparations.

As more and more players return from their summer breaks and tournaments, things are starting to feel a little more intense.

And that should be in evidence today in Shanghai as Premier League rivals Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur meet in the International Champions Cup.

It was Spurs who enjoyed far the better season in 2018-19, finishing fourth in the Premier League and reaching the Champions League final, where they were defeated by Liverpool.

United, meanwhile, endured a turbulent campaign that saw Jose Mourinho replaced mid-season by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before they limped to a poor sixth-place finish.

But a new season brings fresh hope and optimism, and United have won all three matches so far in pre-season.
