The day two of the ongoing test match between Australia and New Zealand started with the centurion of day 1, Marnus Labuschange and Travis Head on the crease. Both these batters continued from where they left the other day and put on a partnership of 76 runs before Wagner bowled Labuschange around his legs. Head went on to make a half century and Tim Paine supported him very well. Starc played a quick knock of 30 runs and Tim Paine batted sensibly around him. Australia were bowled out for 416. Tim Southee and Neil Wagner took 4 wickets each.

Starc then started for Australia and got rid of Tom Latham in the first over. Latham had no idea of the leading edge as it landed safely into the hands of Starc. Hazelwood, then removed Jeet Raval with a beauty. The duo of Williamson and Taylor then started to rebuild. Williamson was once caught behind but no one caught the edge and Australia didn't review which meant that Williamson got a second chance. But he didn't last long as Steve Smith took a blinder flying horizontally to his right and taking a one hander. Nicholls didn't last long either as Starc kept adding to his wicket tally. Neil Wagner was sent before Watling, probably as a night watchman but that didn't work either as Starc bowled him on his first ball. Ross Taylor was the only player who negotiated Australian bowlers very well and he is still on the crease.

Starc was at his best bowling those full swinging deliveries and troubling batsmen. New Zealand are 5 down and they have a serious problem here. The pair of Taylor and Watling has to stay there at least for one session if New Zealand have to stay in the match.
