The Steem dream

Sometimes, I feel like I’m that guy in the Bible that was shouting in the wilderness. His name was John the Baptist and back in Sunday school, we were told that he was the forerunner of the promised Messiah called Jesus. It all sounds like one Hollywood epic movie to me now but back then it was a big deal.

John the Baptist spent his days in the desert, feeding on locust and honey. A lot of people thought he was crazy because he dressed like a bum but in reality, he was Jesus’s hype man. I’m John the Baptist and Steem is Jesus. The one sent by the Internet god to emancipate people from the clutches of Centralized social media.

I spend a lot of time on Twitter and Facebook these days and my main purpose for being there is to take people away from that place and put them in a platform where they can earn from the content they create. It is perhaps the most frustrating and thankless task ever, but one I feel I am responsible for.

If I was a whale, I’d have used an incentive to bring people to steem. I’d just promise them a bunch of upvotes for their content(as long as it is not plagiarized) and I think that will keep them around. Sadly, I’m not a whale and I have to tell my recruits to “hope” for the best. So how do you do it? How do you convince people to create engaging content and increase the value of our community?

If we had all just paid more attention in Sunday school we wouldn't have gotten into this mess in the first place.
