Summary

  • I found older price data of some Steem-Engine token prices.
  • The picture is not bad, they overperformed Steem.
  • Unfortunately, the “statistical sample” is very small.

I’m collecting Steem Engine token prices data from the 7th of July, 2019, and analyzing, charting them every couple of days, ultimately. (The last one is here.). But what happened before?

Some good news

Steem-Engine is much older than six weeks, some tokens were created months before. Could token prices evolve on a positive path, or at least, perform better than their “forefather”, Steem? I fund some data posted by Chinese Steemian @m18207319997 regularly. The first ones are dating on the 22nd of May.

I gladly calculated the yield of these prices between May and August. My good news is that it is not impossible to overperform Steem, actually, these nine tokens, on average, did. Unfortunately,@m18207319997 only presents data of the 10 more traded tokens, so, the “statistical sample” is very small. (And one of them is linked to Litecoin, which is not a classic Steem-Engine token.)

Average, top, flop

The average yield of the 9 tokens was –36 percent, they lost some more than a third of its value. But Steem fell more, its yield was approximately 54 percent in negative. One token, SCT (Steemcoinpan) surged, DEC (Dark Energy Cristal) fell only 10 percent. The worst yield has WeedCash, it lost most of its value (–78 percent).

So, with the small sample, that is not a very accurate analysis, I know. But better than nothing. It is positive, it gives some hope people who are concerned about the Steem and Steem-Engine token prices. Even if some prices fall, the big picture is better than the fall of Steem.

Patient, but careful

Let’s say, again, that tribe-founders, leaders or developers are not necessarily responsible for the price falls. The overall sentiment with Steem and HF21, the selling pressure from the part of airdrop receivers, selling pressure from people who are only seeking short-term income… there are many factors. I know many of them are trying to stabilize the price. So maybe we should be patient (but also careful, avoid investing too much).

Is it the supply?

In the table, you see also the columns “Supply May 22” and Supply Aug. 17”. Is there a link between the supply change (sometimes also called inflation) and the price falls? Seemingly, not. SCT price could surge with growing supply, other coins fell with a stable amount of tokens. As I said the “statistical sample” is small in this case. I will try to analyze this with a broader set of tokens in the future...

I come back soon with another analysis. If you won’t see my posts because of HF 21 flag wars, for example… You will find some hint on my profile, “website” link, where to find me and my analysis. (See the picture.) I’ll never stop blogging.

About the data:

I’m collecting all token prices from July the 7th on, once a day, approximately at 4-5 p. m. UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). I’m not a robot or developer and I’m not always online, so some delays can happen. The data is so more estimation than an exact recording. Data on July 9 and 15 are completely missing. If somebody knows how to regain this information more precisely from the blockchain please message me.)

Hello @deathcross, I collect this data too, but every minute. I have some charts about this data, you can see on my profile. If you are interesting we can talk to find synergies?

Greetings
