[ENG] Will 3Speak succeed to bring Steem to the masses?

Carlo (@miti)

Hello everybody,

I would make a brief introduction, to introduce today's post. When I signed up with Steem and decided to actively participate in it, I did it also for a specific reason: this blockchain was presented as resistant to censorship as any content had been published there and any operation had been performed on it, would have remained unchanged in it.
Two years have passed and I am satisfied with both my career and the fact that the premises have been maintained.

The scenery surrounding Steem has changed considerably: the geopolitical climate of the entire terrestrial globe is in great turmoil, great protests against the centralized powers are unable to find a voice on social media as very often the ax of censorship intervenes to gag the ideas that deviate from those of the one in charge.
With these premises, being able to guarantee the right to speak to everyone as well as guaranteeing a reply to those who disagree with the opinion of others is a good bet. What Steem could collect thanks to the tools made available to bloggers, people and minds that think outside the box.

In my opinion, this premise was necessary to introduce the topic I would like to talk about today: the demonetization of Youtube content, which found a big victim in David Packman.

For those not familiar, David Pakman is a political expert as well as a host of a television and radio program "The David Pakman Show" as well as writing on several blogs, including one in Steem's blockchain (@davidpakman).

In its increasingly stringent guideline, Youtube has implemented an authentic censorship policy on certain content, as well as having denied monetization on several videos; which has caused many Vloggers to turn up their noses and have begun to explore other possibilities to keep their ability to talk about what they want free, without anyone being able to intervene in any way to try to guide their way of Vlogging.

The timing with which the blockchain of Steem reacted is truly exemplary: the 3Speak platform was set up precisely to give voice to the one censored or demonetized by Youtube, also thanks to the contribution of its founders @theycallmedan, @starkerz and @anarcotech.
To see the number of the new contributors that are added to the platform, it would seem that the idea is liked a lot and a lot of Vlogger that felt under threat from Youtube, are moving towards 3Speak.

Today, looking at Steemit's featured posts, I realized that David Pakman has also joined the ranks of those who have decided to join the novelty introduced by 3Speak as a form of protest for the demonetization of Youtube; HERE you could find the link to his article.

I do not want to enter into the merits of the same, whose content is (and remains) the author's thought, the thing on which I would instead like to dwell is on the task to which Steem's blockchain has fulfilled in this circumstance and which is then in part that for which Social Media was created: giving a voice to everyone against censorship.
Attention, resistant to censorship does not mean that nobody can criticize the idea of others or vote against the posts that contains this idea .. but it means that that content will remain on the blockchain and nobody will be able to delete it.
This step is essential and it is important to keep this in mind.

The thing that has puzzled many readers and authors of Steemit is the fact that @davidpakman's post has even entered among the featured posts, a position that is usually reserved for Steemit Inc communications or in any case strictly related to the blockchain development .
Mostly to leave them perplexed was the content of the Vlog that was placed among the featured posts, as it expresses very specific political ideas and therefore could be seen as an adherence by Steemit Inc to these ideas, something very serious in itself in light of the role that Steemit Inc plays in this blockchain.

I believe that behind this choice there is no political ambition on their part but there is the precise desire on the part of Steemit Inc. to send a signal to other big names, such as David Pakman, who in Steem could find their new work platform thanks to the many tools available to bloggers / vloggers.
So let's face it sincerely: Steemit Inc has often been accused of advertising too little outside this platform and now that it tries to do it, everyone criticizes it.

Even the move to forge a collaboration with Medium (paid platform) has been targeted by the ironies of many users.
I don't think this way of criticizing whatever is being done is very productive for our blockchain.

If after David Pakman came other big names, this could represent the Holy Grail for our blockchain: tens of thousands of users could register with Steem to follow their favorite Blogger / Vlogger giving a great boost to everything that revolves around this decentralized platform.

In short, I really see this choice made by David Pakman with great enthusiasm and I hope that it is only the beginning of a mass exodus towards Steem on the part of those who are beginning to feel suffocating the extremely centralized and censored landscape that is the big platforms such as Youtube, Facebook, Twitter .. to name just a few.

We will certainly have to face some problems, such as the gains to which the big names are accustomed and to which currently our blockchain cannot cope.
In fact, with current prices and the number of active users, at the moment it will be impossible to guarantee the "celebrities" the level of receipts they currently have with large platforms and therefore I am convinced that they too must embrace the idea of the blockchain with great confidence on the future of the same.
Only in this way could a virtuous circle be grafted which would benefit everyone.

Even the many Tribes that could take advantage of the large numbers brought by these big names and which the latter could use to increase their income. Once again a virtuous circle for the benefit of all.

On the other hand I hypothesized it also in one of my articles [ENG] Will 3Speak succeed to bring Steem to the masses? // [ITA]Riuscirà 3Speak ad avvicinare Steem alle masse?, that just behind such platform as 3Speak the possibility of spreading Steem in a more capillary and faster way than I regret to say has been the case thus far.

Am I just raving, or do you also notice that something is slowly changing?

Greetings,
Carlo (@miti)
