Not fancy, but #PoSh

(Edited)

I haven't been on Steem much over the last few days other than writing and commenting. Yes, I have been reading too, but it hasn't been as often as normal due to my schedule. What I have been doing though is participating a little in the @ocd driven #PoSh (Proof of Share) movement and have been tweeting my posts on Twitter. It is a new twitter account because I wanted a Steem-orientated fresh start.

IMG_20191127_170049.jpg

I only have 6 tweets there so far and a couple retweets, but I plan on tweeting out content that I find on Steem more often. I hope to also remember to add a link to the tweet on the post tweeted and the #PoSh tag as a reminder.

So far, my impressions look like this, but the account is only a few days old.

image.png

While not great, considering I have been thus far relatively inactive, I am looking to increase the impression count and hopefully the profile visits also. While I do not have high hopes that I am going to attract a million users to Steem through Twitter, the more Steem gets seen out in the other social medias, the better - and if it is linked with content that might attract a few eyes, all the better again.

For me, social media interaction hasn't been a focus for over three years, even before I got onto Steem, as it didn't compel me to take part. However, once I started getting into Steem, I found the space highly attractive, and it wasn't only the reward component. Once of the best parts about Steem for me is the chance to observe digital behavior and actually see the transactions of it running in the background. I find it fascinating.

On the centralized platforms, they are never going to want to give real insight into these processes to end users because it is not in their best interest to do so. If everyone has access to these behaviors, it lowers the value of the information pool they hold.

So, while I am not great on social media in general, I do think that taking part in putting the good aspects of Steem into the public eye line can be useful, especially in the emerging landscape. With the centralized platforms increasingly flexing their muscles and exerting their control over user content, there is a crack in the door that Steem could get a foot into. @threespeak, @theycallmedan and @ocd are looking to sneak in and perhaps with a few guerrilla marketing campaigns, some content will get some traction.

From here on out and well past the next bullrun to come, it is now a process of building up volumes on Steem; Increase users, increase transactions, increase content, increase consumption, increase token demand, increase applications, increase experience, increase enjoyment - you get the idea.

This doesn't have to be a process driven by speed, it can be gradual. What can happen however is that as Steem starts to onboard users slowly, these increasing factors start to complement, multiply and compound against each other and snowball the process. Combine it with changes in social usage of the internet and global economy, and the speed of adoption could become very rapid and have a massive impact on the entire ecosystem.

there are so many factors involved and while each of us tends to stay narrow with what we know and believe, the ecosystem is larger than any one view, and that is why leveraging the other SoMe can have such an effect as it goes outside of the Steem ecosystem and slowly roots itself all over the internet to create trickling funnels back onto the blockchain.

We all can play a role in this and while I am going to share some of my own content on my Twitter, I am aiming to share a great deal more of other people's work that showcases the best of Steem. I hope others do the same. On Steem, resteeming is somewhat limited for many because of the way the ecosystem works, but sharing on the centralized platforms should be encouraged. At some point, the publicity will arrive.

On a side note, I don't really like cross-posting of content on blockchain sites, but I have no issue leveraging the big SoMe if it will help get a couple more pairs of eyes onto Steem.

Now, I am also looking forward to the introduction of communities for this aspect also, as while I don't normally write short posts, once the community functions allow me to post into communities alone, I can create a great deal of shortform content that is suitable for sharing on other platforms.

I am very conscious on Steem of my content because of the support I often get, so I do not want to take advantage of those who may trust the content I deliver to be of a certain standard. With communities and some nice interfaces, a great deal more content transactions can be created as it takes the pressure of delivering quality and allows for a lot more social interaction and general content aimed toward quick and easy to consume and hopefully, enjoyable and attractive enough to be compelling to engage with.

So, if you haven't heard about #PoSh, you can have a look at @acidyo's post here and get onboard the onboarding train across the internet.

Steem is ready, are you?

I have also been very lax in my own social media interactions and activity in recent years. I kind of got disgusted by the abuse of privacy, among other things. I also hate drama and with politics getting so ugly, the drama was so off-putting. But like you I have been working back up to more involvement. I want to build a network based on trust and common interests. I now have two Twitter accounts — one for work/profession (eg the Twitter version of my LinkedIn account) and one for everything else, which includes my creative writing communities and Steem.

I like the idea of helping to grow Steem awareness, interest and membership through social media. Not in a kind of campaign blitz type of thing, but as you said — gradually. I would like to see the Steem blockchain create buzz and excitement again, but more organically and sustainably, if that makes sense. If tons of people jump on board like miners to a gold rush, it’s all about the desire for wealth and striking it rich, which I believe is a recipe for volatility. And that won’t get us anywhere.

The plan to share other people’s content on Twitter is really smart. That is something I can start doing even with my crazy schedule!

For me, it just got so irrelevant and toxic. I don't mean just the way people interact there, but also how obsessed they are with it.

Yes, it does make sense. The problem with the buzz from price, is that it attracts people only interested in price. Steem needs the apps to step up.

This type of thing is exactly what is needed now. There is so much outdated bad information out there about Steem out there that we need to go out there by the thousands and counter it.

It isn't just the poor information out there, it is the lack of visibility on the activity that is going on.

True. And that too can be helped with increased engagement on other platforms. I would suggest crypto-centric discussion platforms would be the right place to tell people about what's really going on. That's where the people who invest in crypto like to hang out.

I think those who are investing in crypto is only a part of the issue as that is a small number globally and, they likely don't cae about community or content at all. investors are normally maximalists, which is a large part of the problems we have had already.

I am hoping that we can onboard a lot of users who are crypto curious, but aren't looking to maximize on every action. There are other aspects to it.

That's a fair point. But I wouldn't scoff at investors willing to purchase the token, particularly in the dire financial circumstances that the platform is in right now. One use case that does not disturb PoB on Steem is purchasing Steem Power and renting it out. @exyle has talked about the APR's available in detail. He has rented out some of his SP.

The overall improvements on the platform and the past violent pumps we've had should interest investors and investors are what the platform sorely needs right now.

Not scoff, just not the only target group and likely better approached by some than others.

For sure it's important just to get the name of STEEM going but as @jayna mentioned, an all out blitz is not the right way I don't think, particularly not right now whilst there is still some toxicity and a lot of complexity about the place.

I'm very optimistic about the future though and when SMTs and communities kick in, I'm hoping my Bluffer's Guide to STEEM will be a handy, helpful if not, mildly entertaining guide to help newcomers understand a bit more about Web 3.0 and how the paradigm is completely shifting from centralised sites like fb etc to sites like steem.

It's all very exciting 😁

I reckon the aplications are going to play a massive role in getting people learning through the ways they set up the UI and UX. Steem is going to be one aspect of this of course, but it will increasingly be at an investment level I think.

Nice thing about Twitter is there a lot more opportunity to get content seen. Along with just engaging and the possibility of networking.

For me since I create gaming content Twitter is a great place as that is where a lot of game developer are active. There is a chance my content could get a comment, like or even a retweet from that game. While it’s rare it does happen and some brands out there are very engaging with content creators. I never know what kind of opportunities that could lead to one day.

Over this year I’ve started to put more focus on getting my content beyond our bubble. It’s not important to me for now if someone has a Steem account or not. I’d rather build myself up in a couple of areas while we are dealing with this bear market.

This month I’ve seen a nice 10% growth on Twitter. Most importantly I’m getting link clicks to my content on Steem. It’s also just nice to have those numbers so I can try out different things and have actual data to go on from in how things are going.

For content creators this is an important thing to understand too I believe. Cross-platform is good for audience development and if those on Steem bring their audience in, it will supercharge their own and the entire experience in the ecosystem here.

Those link clicks in might lead to a 1 or 2% sign up rate, that'll be awesome :)

Kudos for your brandnew twitter account @tarazkp. And cheers for this new endeavor to run the voice about Steem further.

Since it seems obvious that day after day you have less & less time available to digitally accomplish all what you want online given your tight schedule IRL. I think I'm gonna give you a hand with that issue, with the only intention that you don't have to sacrifice not even an extra minute more of your already scarce hours of sleep you are currently having to meet your goal.

So, let's automate a bit the process of your new twitter account, in such a way you can fill it with outstanding and attractive Steem content faster and smoothly. :)

First of all, click here and read that post thoroughly with attention from top to bottom to get some basic instructions. Then, find some quality time to carry out the entrusted task. And once done all that, you can now choose any of my posts to decorate your new twitter account with the most colorful content across the steem blockchain that you can find. Well, if you dare pick mine!! };)

I don't plan on automating the process as I believe that doing so will disengage me as a reader, creator, participant and investor. It is good that people d this though. I think I prefer to be more manual - perhaps it is my age :)

Throughout my participation in this initiative, I never got any penny votes from @ocdb. I don't really know what's the reason behind it but I'd love to know. Ocd is a reputable curation team.

I have disengaged from some of the main stream social media platforms (that shall not be mentioned :-) because I felt it to be a waste of time, and had a lack of not only positive but informative, and constructive interaction. When I just started out on the Dapps I did go out and mention the new platforms on my social media accounts. I have since not used mainstream platforms since, and it may be time to head back that way and give an update, to get more visibility to the new communities and options currently out there(steemit).

To be perfectly honest though, I was secretly happy that your average "Joe" was not here, as they are the ones who taint platforms with nonsense, lol, but I guess we need the masses to make @steemit successful. Will start posting again to try and do my tiny part.

I have never been overly active on most, though I did spend time on Facebook for various reasons, mostly to socialize and keep family updated on the other side of the world.

The masses are needed and while it introduces nonsense, the beauty of the communities and Dapps is there is the possibility to filter based on interest level, in the same way that someone on Instagram isn't forced to read tweets.

For now, more eyes the better.

@tarazkp Agreed 100% we do need more onboarding which s what I think the problem currently is, it just needs it be made easier. that's it. I have introduced tons of friends and family but most of them stumble at the first hurdle of signing up and even when I do setup for them the process for the average non techie is just too cumbersome.

New, or not, I'm impressed that you — and others — are out there, doing this.

I never got much into sharing posts to general social media, I suppose because my social media accounts are all "old" (meaning 2005-ish or earlier) and the followings I have are accustomed to a certain kind of content; generally very different from the kind of personal blogging I tend to do here.

Which might be an indication that I should try some more varied content than just the "commentary" I run here... things to think about!
