Not Rumor: Steem Ranked #7

With all the rumors circulating about Justin Sun and Steemit Inc, I thought it would be good to put up something that was not rumor or speculation.

Once again, Steem is ranked #7 among all blockchains.

This according to the report just released by China’s Center for Information and Industry Development (CCID).

Just as an aside, Sun's Tron blockchain ranked third.

Over the last year, Steem has steadily ranked in the Top 10 in this research. It is a report that is put out quarterly by this firm that tracks the top blockchains.

Being from China, this could be some encouraging news since China has made a public commitment to blockchain. While the government is not a fan of cryptocurrency, for obvious reasons, they feel that blockchain is a technology that is going to help that country forge to the top in technology.

With a country so committed to blockchain, it is good to see a Chinese firm think so highly of Steem. The area that Steem ranks the highest is in basic tech. Here Steem ranked 3rd, behind only EOS and, the aforementioned, Tron.

It did lag a bit in applicability and creativity.

The ranking put Steem ahead of some notables such as Bitcoin, BCash, Monero, and Cordano.

Here is a full write-up of the release of the report.

The fact that the technology behind Steem is starting to get some attention is worthy. As we look at the other areas, we can see room for improvement. However, since the technology is the foundation upon all that is built, it helps to have a strong blockchain beneath whatever is being developed.

Steem offers this.

Perhaps there is a reason why Justin Sun is considering Steemit Inc for acquisition. The development that took place on the blockchain the last year is tremendous. With Mira, Hivemind, Communities, and, soon, SMTs, we are seeing a lot of progress in a relatively short period of time. While it took a while to get started, the spigot is now open and updates are flowing.

Let us all hope that it continues.

“Censorship-resistant” and Chinese government blockchain seems like a match made in hell.

This CCID is actually under the umbrella of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, so the Government. It's interesting that they rate the public blockchains, but say they are against crypto.

There's talk China are planning a state run, gold-backed crypto to undermine USD as the world's reserve currency.

I'm not sure what I think about this. My gut tells me this will not work out well. Guess we will see.

China is going to be having some huge changes shortly. They need freedom and rights not organ harvesting and mass genocide.
