Who Do I Follow on Steem & Why

(Edited)

This initiative started here. I don't know whether I'm late or not but I followed some posts on it and because I love what I've seen so far, I decided to take part in it.

When I joined steemit in early 2018, I was completely lost. @djoi is someone I know outside of steemit. When she told me about this platform where I can share my writings and get rewarded for it, I decided why not? She was a newbie as well so we both struggled a lot. Over the many months, I've met a lot of amazing humans whom I equally loved and followed their works. Let me introduce you to some of them.

@raj808
I first came in contact with Raj when he commented on my post shorty after I joined. He was scouting writers for the @promo-mentors community on discord (this is a community I first found acceptance. Not sure what happened to it). He answered all my questions patiently. He was also one of the mentors for poetry and fiction. Raj opened my eyes and helped me a lot in my writing journey. The most significant is the use of double adjectives. I still laugh when I remember it. He's an excellent penman too. I always envy his poems and sci-fi.

@warpedpoetic
Any wonder why I love poets? Probably because I'm not much of a poet myself. Warpedpoetic is the master of them all. I'm yet to see any poetry that beats his. Doubt me? Take a look at his blog. We met on a discord show and have been sharing ideas ever since. He's one of those I can comfortably call my friend. I write poems now because of it. He made me do it –which I hated at first– and they're still very awkward by the way.

@trucklife-family
Her passion for earth and natural healing got me first, followed by a much bigger love for her girls. Ash is this person who lays everything bare. She tells it as it is. I think it's safe to say she's one of the people who inspired me to start sharing a part of myself. I lock up a whole lot and seeing her share gave me a little push. And yes, she writes poetry too.

@vermillionfox
I met her in my early steemit days. She was the brain behind foxtales writing contests. I have over twenty short stories not longer than 500 words thanks to her. She's a brilliant artist too. She captures emotions freely and in such a way one can easily tell a story with it. Her foxtales and inktober drawing are one of my favourites on the platform.

@ruth-girl
Her first post I read was about bugs. Freaking bugs. I once asked her if she had one as a pet. Ruth has this thing about her that makes it easy to be drawn to her. She's a wonderful photographer. No surprises here since I love photography as much as I love writing. Yes, she writes dark fiction (my specialty) and poems too. I run away from reading stories that aren't in print a whole lot because, well, it's what I do, which is strange I think, but I read hers and I absolutely love them.

@isaria
I would say it was her music but that'd be a lie. It was her voice before her music. They're both related, I know, but I heard the voice before I heard the music. Not to confuse you any further, she's sings and plays the piano beautifully, when she isn't obsessing over her cats, that is. She writes well too though she'd never agree.

@tezmel
For the longest time, I thought she was a dude. Her poetry. Yes, her poetry. Her mind too. She's the first person that made me understand that it's perfectly okay to share you demons. She did this just by writing her experiences. I'm sure she doesn't know about it. She gets that dark part of me so much it's unreal sometimes. She's one of the fee people I love and open up to because I know they'd never judge.

Amazing, yeah?

Raj is iconic when it comes to sci-fi and haikus. I think he's made of prose and poetry. He's a good follow.

Warped is my teacher. And that is all.

I think Ruth is the only person we've ever joked about couch surfing if I were to find myself on her side of the world. And yes... Her relationship with bugs is on another level.

The rest I gotta check out.

Thank you for including me among some giants I can only look up to 💜

Hi Chinny.

Thanks for the mention :)

I remember those halcyon days of Promo-mentors and the 2017 bull run! Although I have to admit doing all the extra curricular activity (stuff other than writing posts) did see me burn out pretty badly, I was always really pleased that I got to help out many folks with the creative writing workshops :)

Raj opened my eyes and helped mea lot in my writing journey. The most significant is the use of double adjectives.

That is so gratifying to hear... and yes... watch out for the over-use of adjectives and adverbs. Over use of adverbs in particular are the major culprit in limiting the impact and flow of fiction.

I always put fiction that I'm submitting to literary anthologies through Hemingway editor and grammarly just to be sure to catch those instances where I commit the cardinal sins of repeated words and frequent adverb use.

I'm so glad that I effected your writers journey so positively, and thank you once again for these kind words :)

Much love xx

I'm glad too. I use grammarly but only when I'm doing some serious writing. I think I would probably make it a constant things. It helps.

Thank you for all that you do.
