How has steem impacted my life

It will be 2 years in March since my brother introduced me to steemit and my only regret is why didnt I join earlier. In all this time I have learnt about writing than my years in the university and I can confidently say that it has been worth my time and effort. Asides the financial benefit that comes with being on this platform, it has also changed my views morally, financially, culturally and relationship wise. Here is a contest by @theycallmedan where you need to share how steem has impacted your life.

Before steemit all I knew was working hard to acquire the finest things I desire. I joined steemit and I knew the difference between working hard and working smart. I learnt the power of community and what it truly means to have friends in your corner, people who would stand by you and also look out for you when times and votes are tough. Just like the business world, whoever you associate with will tell in your business dealings. This shows in the various communities we have on steemit.

In my early days I heard a lot of grumble from people who says without vote you cannot survive on this platform. It took me after a year to start getting little votes on the platform and I can say that some of the people I knew then are nowhere to be found today. Sometimes going somewhere with a lot of expectation might jeopardise one's act of surviving. All this and more is what I learnt through steemit. I learned that consistency and hard work will take you places where negligence and procrastination wont.

Steemit also gives me an edge over other platform because here I can rant and cry on my blog and get more kindness from strangers who have become friends than any other place be it centralised or decentralised. It gives me an avenue to vent and share my struggles and progress without any limitation and also get monetary reward from it. Unlike other platform that has its limitation on the power of expression, steemit gives me the room to do all I want.

Through this platform I have also learned that copyright is a strong law in places and to always give credit when using the work of intellectual minds. From images to quotes, all these things are important in the literary world. Reason why we have the likes of steem cleaners to help eradicate the form of stealing intellectual property and also put the fear of copyright in the heart of steemians so that when we find ourselves in the academics world, we already know the things to do and not to do.

Things I have learnt from steemit

• POWER OF COMMUNITY: Steemit introduced me to discord and through discord I joined a lot of amazing community who has in turn impacted my life via one way or the other. Without community no man can thrive and this clearly explains the power of unity. This community has helped shaped my steemit life to the way it is today. All major milestone on this platform was achieved through communities. My knowledge in relation to crypto, culture, art and the dopest game of all steemmonsters now splinterlands was discovered in this community. Community like @neoxian will help you attain the best place on this steemit platform because you get to interact with people with high IQ whose objective is the same as yours and whose goal is financial independence. In this community I have learnt the power of not giving up and fighting until your last breath. I joined @yoodoo community in other to better my writing skills and to also gain some financial freedom through the help of there community task. @splinterlands has taught me the power of having a competitive spirit and also having an investment plan while aiming for a particular goal. So many communities here has helped a steemian like me who has no knowledge about crypto to someone who can stand among kings to defend the word cryptocurrency.

• FINANCIAL FREEDOM: Money is life and without it, it sometimes makes no sense. The smallest thing in life requires money and steemit has given me this assurance through crypto. I would say I just started cashing out on this platform due to my devotion in trying to grow my steem power. Storing of steem even in this crypto recession is a guarantee that you have money somewhere like a fixed deposit. Even though some of us had rather fixed it by buying splinterlands cards, all in all steem is involved.

• CULTURAL HERITAGE: I have learned names of places I wouldn't have known in my entire life and I have been able to learn the different ways at which people live in their country. From my pakistan friend to my BD partner to my venezuela comrades, steemit is a home to all and this platform has brought us all together under one umbrella by making one country's problem, a universal one for all steemians.

• THE ACT OF GIVING: In life whatever seed you sow to a fellow mate will be returned back to you in doses and you never can tell who has been lurking in the corner watching all you do on the platform and when it is time to get paid back in return you get surprised by how much love people here are willing to give you. I have seen people like @crypto.pior do a lot for his country Venezuela and its citizen, also the banks on this platform like bank of neoxian, bank of swedishdragon, ausbitbank and some other people helps with loan and savings in other to help people in there downtime. I have seen the way at which @sircork give to charitable events and individuals all through the power of this steemit platform. I learned to give even when people are in need and to help without publicising.

• HTML AND MARKDOWNS: I have perfected my markdowns to 90% when writing and I am still learning till I get to 100. I used to wonder how bloggers write and attract lots of readers but with steemit, I have learned that the power is in the caption and carrying your audience/readers along depending on your ability to string words together. This code makes all your writings beautiful and both your steemit blog or external blog will become attractive. My writing life has never been the same since I knew of <><> code.

• TRADE: Buying and selling is one of the integral part of cryptocurrency and with steemit I have learned how to trade crypto even though I'm limiting myself to steemengine for now, I know what to look out for and when to make my move. Steemit made it possible for me to buy and sell in cryptocurrency. I can move my knowledge here to any centralised or decentralised dex all in the name of trade.

IN CONCLUSION:
Steemit has changed my life from the mundane thing to the most important thing. The financial independence it is giving me alone is worth my loyalty and everyday I'm grateful for a platform like this and for the wonderful beings I have been opportuned to call my friends who has helped shaped my growth and progress in the crypto and blockchain world.
