Freedoms in Venezuela, uncertainties towards the future!

Hello dear readers!

Reading a post from my friend @jadams2k18, a series of questions came to my mind that brought fears about freedoms and the future in Venezuela.

Source

Despite all the economic situation in our country, the humanitarian crisis, shortages of food and medicine, the hyperinflation that hits us hard, we can say that we still enjoy civil liberties, freedom of expression and free access to services, Internet and information .

After reading this article: Bittrex is ceasing operations in my country I remembered isolated events (apparently) that have taken place in my country in recent years, events that have somehow deprived us of enjoying some means that, as a result of government measures, disappeared and passed To be part of the history of our country, facts that are worth remembering and analyzing.

Freedom strikes.

  1. On May 27, 2007, an emblematic television channel of this country was released from the RCTV air, it was one of the open signal channels with the largest audience in Venezuela, the reasons for its closure were to make open opposition to the government of the late president Hugo Rafael Chavez Frías.
  2. According to Sntp data between 2013 and 2018, 115 media outlets closed their doors in Venezuela, including radio stations, written press and television channels.
  3. The international news channel NTN24, based in Bogotá, by order of the Maduro government was removed from cable television in Venezuela on February 12, 2014.
  4. The signal of Caracol Televisión and RCN was withdrawn by order of the National Telecommunications Commission in Venezuela (CONATEL) on August 24, 2017.
  5. CNN in Spanish can only be seen online and this 2019 CNN Chile came out of the Venezuelan screens.

Recent events

Recently Adobe and some companies were obliged to suspend operations in Venezuela, as a result of the sanctions applied to Venezuela by the United States government. According to information I read in the following publication of my good friend @juanmolina: ADOBE Suspends Its Services to Venezuelans

Now it is about Bitrex, which suspends operations in the country, hence my concern then what will follow, Localbitcoin, steemit and others?. I think in Cuba that a few years ago the general population did not have access to the Internet, only tourists could pay for the exclusive service for themselves and the government after years of restricting the rights of citizens, still holding the United States accountable, the blockade against the nation of all the limitations they suffer.

What to expect in Venezuela?

Now ... what signs does Venezuela give us? Are there any real possibilities that the limitations increase? ... That is, we can expect that if this continues its rhythm, in several years, they will lose their freedoms, including access to the Internet and us, ¿Will we be listening to the government blame the United States for all the misfortune they have created themselves?

In steemit and Blockchain in general, Venezuelans find a true alternative to the crisis, this fills us with hope, makes us dream of a better future, even serves as an escape valve to not constantly think about our misfortune, here we find relationships very Valuable, genuine friendships, job opportunities and I don't conceive the idea of losing this means of freedom that we have.

Tell me your opinion, I would like to know your analysis of this situation, it will be possible that after finding a window of help, growth and financial independence as a steemit, we will lose this alternative again. I don't want to sound exaggerated, but this really scares me, losing this window frightens me.

Is it possible for that window to close? Is it possible that we lose even Internet access? How do you see the future of our country?

Friend @fucho80 there applies what is said, They are paying the righteous for sinners,

I have always said it since 98 when the murderer of Chavez won that only by the votes of 3 673 685 idiots, I said this country ended it and we are going to pay all the righteous ones because of sinners. I was not mistaken

and that is what they are applying to all Venezuelans that because of some criminals every time we are cornered the least we have to see in all this problem.

Hi Professor @lanzjoseg, thanks for your comment.

Unfortunately you are right in what you say brother, and yet, there are people who still believe in revolt, while the country is progressively deteriorating, how sad to have such a rich country and to be living calamities, consequence of an incompetent and authoritarian government.

Pray that the worst will not happen and we will lose more freedom.

It is scary to think that all this disaster is part of a plan to subject a whole country to misfortune and to be bled by foreign powers (ok, empires but in this case of China and Russia plus their allies).

I think that if they want to close the communication windows, they may continue to apply the strategy of how to cook a frog, that is, slowly, so that it does not realize that they are killing it.

On the other hand, all this may be the product of an ominous coktel in which ineptitude, corruption, greed, social resentment, envy and sadism (simple and pure) are mixed. So they do not even need to spend time planning our misfortunes, they would simply be an inevitable consequence of their actions.

On the other hand, if they hinder the international purchase of spare parts for antennas and data servers, if they incite vandalism against telecommunications facilities and companies, if they steal the money that was destined to the maintenance of communication networks and of the national electrical system, because then we are very badly directed as a nation and we go straight to a precipice that will leave us in a pre-industrial condition.

Hello dear @pedrobrito2004, thanks for this wise comment.

A summary of everything that is happening, that is causing us to gradually run out of telecommunications services, I have read from areas in the country that have several years that some equipment for internet service broke down and they never restored it, in the Ines Romero neighborhood in San felix, Bolivar state my mother-in-law lives and they have more than a year without internet.

Dear @fucho80

Despite all the economic situation in our country, the humanitarian crisis, shortages of food and medicine, the hyperinflation that hits us hard

Sometimes I'm wondering if your situation couldn't be compared to total economic appocalipse. With shortages of everything and fiat currencies losing all value.

Venezuela seem to be a real proov, that even in such a terrible situation humans can find a way to survive and fight for better future.

ps. Hopefully noone will find a way to 'disconnect' you from your source of income on steemit. It would be awful if you couldn't exchange steem to fiat currency. Hopefully it won't ever happen.

Yours, Piotr

Hello dear @crypto.piotr.

ps. Hopefully noone will find a way to 'disconnect' you from your source of income on steemit. It would be awful if you couldn't exchange steem to fiat currency. Hopefully it won't ever happen.

I wrote this article thinking about that, thinking about the possibility of this happening, can you imagine the disaster that would be if they stopped operating these eschanges that allow us to convert cryptocurrencies, in our case steem, that would be disastrous, to think that because of some regulation or sanction will cease to operate. I pray strongly that this does not happen, many would see an economic window close.

At this moment steem, steemit and project hope is the livelihood of my family.

In fact, I have heard opinions from university economists who argue that the case of the Venezuelan economy could be a matter of study in the economics chairs of universities worldwide.

Greetings dearest friend @fucho80.

The cases you mentioned at the beginning of your publication were motivated by decisions taken by the Venezuelan government itself, which in its eagerness to control the information matrix closed these media.

But these new cases that have been presented are due to decisions taken by the companies themselves. These base their decisions on the economic sanctions that the US has imposed on the Venezuelan government.

Then we can identify different origins in both cases. But we cannot hide that behind all this is the bad actions and bad reputation that the current administration of our country has.

In order for platforms such as blockchain steem to cease operations in our country, an access block on Internet routes would have to occur. This does not escape a possible reality.

As a factor in our favor I can see that the current Venezuelan administration is turning to the crypto market and the use of crypto assets as a way to avoid the effect of the sanctions. Then we may not live that catastrophic scenario.

Soon we will see government movements through the Auricoin platform . Watch out for this.

Your friend, Juan

Hello dear @juanmolina, thanks for your comment.

Friend, I am not trying to establish the causes or possible culprits, I simply try to analyze the situation and, through this, express my concern about something that can happen, I also think that they are fears that many people live here, whatever There are risks that things like this happen, either through external blocking or internal regulations. However, I keep the faith so that nothing happens.

In order for platforms such as blockchain steem to cease operations in our country, an access block on Internet routes would have to occur. This does not escape a possible reality.

That is a relief, beyond that I am also glad that the Venezuelan government is betting on cryptography and is taking firm steps in this direction.

Thanks friend, always very well informed.

Actually, I was surprised that HK was seeing more liberties infringed upon than Venezuela. I was anticipating great violence from Venezuelan PDs. Still a bit amazed at the relative civility. I thought American media might be censoring what is really going on there.
