Did you ever have a Bebo account?
I did, it got a bit shit and I left.
There were others. They were good, then they got a bit shit and I left.
Most recently I created a Sola account, it was a beautiful and well-designed app. In the end though, it was full of scammers and abusers and plagiarists.
In essence, it got a bit shit and I left.
There have been a number of platforms, apps and forums I have been in over the years. If they get a bit shit, I leave. I don't make a fuss. Occasionally I tell people I might be close to that I am not going to use it anymore and how to get a hold of me elsewhere.
That's about it.
So what is it about Steemit that drives some people stone-cold bonkers when they "leave?" I use the quotes because all too often they don't leave. Instead, they hang about making a stink. Telling everyone the platform is doomed, the token is going to zero. Yada yada yada.
This has been going on since I started. The token descended from about 4 dollars all the way down to seven cents. It took a while but it just kept getting lower.
Right from the get-go, there were people rage quitting.
This place is a scam!

It was the same old same old. Spiced up a little with the I used to be a somebody so I know what I am talking about kind of twaddle.
This dude @planetnamednancy who no-one had ever heard of, claimed he is only hanging around whilst his powerdown completes.
Have they changed the power down so that you have to check in daily and make abusive rage comments or it gets cancelled?
No, of course, they haven't. These people though, they just can't help themselves. It can sometimes be entertaining but most times is just a pain in the arse.

I've been digging through Youtube a lot lately, looking for bizarre content off the beaten track. It's actually been a hobby of mine for years. I collect odd videos. Some people have been producing videos for years, the videos are good, I doubt they've earned more than five dollars in five years. I don't see those people losing their minds. They keep working and working. Facts: "the top 3 percent of channels got 90 percent of the viewership, which means that 90 percent of YouTube creators are fighting over the remaining 10 percent." People sign up, they know it's a challenge, and they work. They're their own boss. If they can't get anywhere, they stop. I read a lot of comments under Youtube videos. I don't see former content producers freaking out on other content producers.
I was actually thinking that myself. I have never seen a rage quit on YouTube. I have no doubt they exist but at the same time I have never seen them or noticed that the person has saw fit to go mad spewing comments everywhere. Same people just tend to look at themselves and not torture themselves repeatedly
I've seen a few popular personalities express grievances, professionally, some satirically. Totally different, and directed towards The Powers. If they see an improvement in their situation, that'll help everyone down the line. Kind of like how some people here finally decided actual curation would be beneficial. Now that's there for everyone. Doesn't mean everyone will get it within a matter of days, they still have to work for it, but it's there now.
Rage quitting and then shitting on random content producers? That's so baffling. A lot of folks have had enough of it though. Pointing out how bloody ridiculous it is is honesty in its purest form. Can't even sit and reason with them. It's like talking to someone who's blacked out drunk.
It is it's the way they turn on everyone and say. You can't make it without licking ass. What they mean is they can't make it any other way because their content is invariably shit.

I'm watching people quit, only to be back months , sliding back in the middle of the night and continuing Post in like nothing happened. This has happened since the place appears to me making money in curation even though the coin is down. I have to believe that I'm doing the right thing because I am still having fun and that has got to be worth something.
Because, no matter how how much money I'm making, unless it's like a gazillion dollars, for that I might stay anywhere. But no matter how much it is, if I'm not having fun come it's not going to be worth me staying to be miserable. So, in fact I have put aside most of the other platforms except perhaps Twitter and occasionally Instagram, steemit is home, sweet home.
And for God's sake people, if you are unhappy from here, run away from home and stop bothering me. Good Sunday morning to you, Boom! It promises to be a good day!
