You Win Some, You Lose Some

Well played, Justin. Well, played... I have to say that as someone watching all this drama unfold from the sides, the escalation in tension was making a loss for one side inevitable. It could have been different if people learned to check their egos at the door and work together but that never happens, whether in the real world or crypto.

Decentralization isn't a panacea

With centralization in a capable entity or organization, you get the right things done well. This makes a big difference over time. The trade-off is a single point of failure with so much concentrated power. Even heroes grow old and if you stay around long enough, you eventually become the villain.

So then we look at decentralization. No one is big enough to take down the whole ship with them, but unfortunately, no one is able to steer the ship efficiently and we sway on the deck of the ship from side to side.

Both systems have their strengths, both have their pitfalls and only a Sith deals in absolutes.

Looking Ahead

None of this really impacts the small fish. When whales fight, it is better for us just to swim on. If the last Hard Fork taught me anything, it is that witnesses don't really represent you.

That said, it looks like a split in Steemit/Steem will be inevitable and that is probably be for the best. When couples bicker, it is the children that suffer. Sometimes, it is better for the couple to go their separate ways.
