Hand-poured SILVER Dinosaurs for #PirateSunday

Casted & Hand-poured Dinosaurs, .999 fine silver

These pieces are the work of @mrs-v, who is admired for her craft and one of the few women silver pourer in this community. I personally think that she is one of the best! It was for that reason that I choose her to pour my 2018 Silver Saver Bar.

Do you think that dinosaurs will make good pirates?

Let us see! Meet my dinosaur family.

This is my Wilma. Wilma is a Brachiosaurus.

Brachiosaurus is known for its long neck—which made it look very much like a giraffe—and its short hindlegs. The front legs of this dinosaur is so much larger than the hind legs. Brachiosaurus means “arm lizard”.

I found these images in the web, and it appears that Wilma may NOT make a good pirate because of her size!

Next up is Fred. Fred is a Stegosaurus.

Stegosaurus was known for its rounded back and its double row of back plates that end with a a double pair of spikes on this dinosaur’s tail. Stegosaurus had one of the smallest brains. As such, it is believed that this dinosaur was very simple and slow moving.

One thing for sure... there is an entire book written about why Fred will not be a good pirate!

The last but not the least is Bam-bam. Bam-bam is a Spinosaurus.

Spinosaurus have distinctive spines which were long extensions of the vertebrae and were likely to have had skin connecting them, forming a sail-like structure. Spinosaurus means "spine lizard".

I recall from grade school that the Spinosaurus is water-loving. I think that the spiny "sail" on its back, and its crocodile-like head, neck and tail are a plus! It was much larger than the Tyrannosaurus Rex.

I think that Bam-bam will make a good pirate!

I used to be crazy about dinosaurs when I was in primary school and I think it was because of my brothers. but as soon as I hit my 8th birthday, they were all replaced by barbie dolls 😉!
This set of three pieces are intricate pours, and it attests to the maker's skill in casting molds and hand-pouring. I had a set of very tiny soldiers, which I may post here. I gave the set to a good friend as a birthday (or Christmas) present. Since it is his now, I will have to ask permission from him to show the set here on steemit. I am sure you will love that one, sis @saffisara!

Hehehe, I did... and I hurt my wrist when I lifted that box and poured the contents on the floor. And I did not realize that I have tiny pieces of hand-poured silver about the size of flattened pearls. And I thought to myself that I probably wasn't thinking straight when I got those! I promise myself to try my best to stick to my goals this year. No more wasting fiat on those!
I love that moji-you... where did you find that one? And so appropriate.

Your kids are like me... I loved dinos in grade school and was totally fascinated by them. There are some cynics that they insist that dinos ever existed at all, despite the many fossils found in almost all continents. Some in that group say that dinosaurs are mythological creatures, just like dragons. For sure these dinosaurs are bigger than life that captured so much of my imagination while I was in grade school until my interest waned after I started liking Barbies.
