Final log of a specimen (Story - Fiction)

The experiment was reaching its inevitable end.

Gradually, in an orderly and systematic way, the specimens were "finished" ... perhaps it is the mildest way of saying that their existence was eliminated.

There was no reason to regret, they had been useful for the investigation and provided valuable results. But what was valuable was the information, not its existence, no longer had any purpose within the design.

The research probe 4566791687 floated gently on a lake, to a certain extent it was an entity aware of itself, after all it was an AI so versatile that it had been used in many different experiments, from climatological investigations to high performance simulations in virtual systems .

Perhaps because of its complexity and richness of experiences, it was a rather peculiar AI, it had developed a set of "hobbies", such as trying to be the last to withdraw to be able to collect data on the end, as if it had developed some kind of attachment to experiments or had a somewhat morbid curiosity about the disappearance or the end of all things.

"We are already entering the terminal phase" The probe began to speak for itself, although that term of speech might not be the one that was understood by some listener, as they were sounds that no one within the experiment was able to translate. "I am the last existence watching ... I wonder if the specimens noticed something strange ... I do not think so, for them it is normal to have a lake and a violet sky, in fact they adore me as a kind of divine manifestation was a pure accident, but it was so interesting that I did not reactivate the camouflage. "

In the lake, the calm of the water was interrupted by two fish, which were actually organisms derived from the nucleus of 4566791687 to comply with surveillance and defense subroutines, it is not as if something inside the experiment could harm him, but it was part of the protocol of the experiment.

On the shores of the lake, multitudes of creatures raised prayers and made sacrifices and vows on various altars, were not so far as not to notice them, but not so close as to be able to touch the core of the probe 4566791687.

The probe raised his voice, as if to say goodbye, it was something he had not done before, but by now introducing one more variable to the experiment would not be too important. All the specimens were startled, they listened to the sounds and could not understand them, it was like music, they could suspect that they were sounds of some language, but they had no way to translate them. Some of them thought about recording the sounds very deeply so they could study them, after all they were the words dictated by a manifestation of the gods.

"Everything ends" probe 4566791687 said its final words and the simulation system shutdown was being developed, along with purging the data for final cleaning.

The probe watched with curiosity the reaction of apparent terror of the specimens when all began to disappear, some tried to flee, but if they moved away from the purple lake their disappearance was much faster. They threw themselves into the water, trying to reach the core as if it were their source of salvation.

The probe 4566791687 did not hold any aversion to them, but neither did they feel any attachment to their existences, after all, it was not their first quantum simulation, although it could not be denied that the richness of expressions and responses of the expeditions in each of the simulations It was quite wide and could sometimes give you surprises.

All disappeared and the simulation continued to close, and only the lake, the guardians and the core of the probe remained. "Well, it's all over. It wasn't very different from other simulations. I wonder what my next job will be?"

The nucleus reinstated the guardians within itself and retracted everything that was theirs, before disappearing from the simulation by a very extreme margin. "I think they are going to claim me again that I got carried away and that I almost stayed to disappear along with the specimens of the virtual reality experience. That is something that is not going to happen ... I think it will not happen, I can not imagine myself committing suicide. "

The probe was not considered the same as the specimens, they were not aware of the simple reality that they would be used and erased without knowing why. I do not mean to say that the probe will think that its eternal existence was guaranteed, but rather that it accepted that at some point it would be replaced and erased by some higher version, the idea was not pleasant, but it was not about deceiving itself by giving it the false idea that it was irreplaceable.

4566791687 delivered the final data and then proceeded to change its core to a new destination, another job was waiting for it, another job to accomplish, as long as it watched with curiosity the progress of all things to its inevitable end and operated its own with absolute calm .

Thanks for the comment.

Some time ago I used to write short stories, although I have several years that I did not.

hahaha thanks for that comment.

I don't remember well, but I think I started writing for a therapist's recommendation or something like that ... or it was the recommendation of a relative from when I was a child, to take out some things that were inside my head ... I no longer I remember well, whatever. I ended up getting used to writing something from time to time, but a few years ago I dedicated myself to other things and forgot this pastime a bit.

Hello, thanks for the comment, I do not usually share my stories much, but it turns out that it has a good response from the network partners.

I did not expect that :)

There is a touch of Seneca's aesthetic philosophy in the posture I gave to the AI of the Sonda 4566791687, but I didn't develop it much, that would have taken longer, but I like how it turned out.

Thanks for the comment. Yes, I think the story has sad touches, but sadder in the sense that the Probe 4566791687 lacks any kind of attachment ... it is as if it were watching each end while calmly waiting for its own.

Merry Christmas to you, too! :)

yes, it does its job as a good probe. but it seems a bit like us when we say something like "no, it will never happen to me ..." and then instead, sooner or later, it happens ... maybe what distinguishes us from her is our ability to dream

Actually, the research probe 4566791687 is very clear that it is not eternal and that its existence will also come to an end, it shows when the probe reflects:

I do not mean to say that the probe will think that its eternal existence was guaranteed, but rather that it accepted that at some point it would be replaced and erased by some higher version, the idea was not pleasant, but it was not about deceiving itself by giving it the false idea that it was irreplaceable.

On the other hand, that curiosity, it may even be a hint, for his next mission is something similar to a desire to know ... who knows, his AI may also have some desire and therefore some dream to fulfill :)

yes, as we know that bad things can happen to us, we know that we will die, but we keep it away from us, as if it never happens. but yes, maybe she is smarter !!

There is a certain touch of stoicism in the attitude of the Probe, he knows that there is an inevitable ending, but he does not worry about it or try to evade it desperately and uselessly. He accepts it and maintains a certain curious attitude for his next job, as if maintaining a good mood by devoting his strength to things he can consider productive and pleasant from his point of view.
