During my most recent meetup with @omnivori , we had an opportunity to visit one of @sam.hsuu 's favourite joint, the Spade's burger.

The place is very clean and easy to be located despite SS15 is famous for congested traffic.

The counter is small but still very neat with impressive menu as decoration at the right; and I was wondering would the burger getting is as nice as on the menu display?

On the other side of the wall is where the sign is being set up with its location.

The Uniqueness of the Joint

As you know, Malaysia is an Islamic dominant country, and most Western F&B joints have accustomed to pork-free locations in order to cater patreons of all races and faith.

However, this joint isn't.

Being curious how good a pork burger would be served as most of the time the burgers I had were pork free, I have decided to order a standard Cheese burger that is pork with their special house sides; with somewhat pricey portobello fries as my sides.

The Burger

It may not look impressive enough but this burger truly resembles the Quick Burger Joint in Antwerp when I was there for a couple of weeks. The part I like about this burger is that it isn't as greasy as other joints and their butter lettuce actually does stands out unlike the shredded mushy ones we usually have.

Service is actually quicker than you think and less than 5 minutes talking with the Omnivory partners I got it freshly delivered.

The Patty

The patty itself is thick and juicy. It doesn't look or taste overcooked like most other usual joints and you pretty much won't choke with the cherry tomatoes in it.

I like the fact that yes the sides can be expensive; but having a whole piece of fresh butter lettuce ith cherry tomatoes somewhat made the burger very clean cut with the sauce. It is not over powering and too much soaked in the sauce.

Even though I am a sauce person I still liked it for its juiciness.

And I can always dip the spicy cheese sauce if I need a little extra kick

The Portobello Mushroom Fries

Mushrooms can be very tricky when you deal with deep fry because they can soak it like sponge and you will end up with a very soggy mushroom fries.

The one I like about this one is that they are crunchy at the outside but actually still juicy and fleshy on the inside.

Most of the time when I eat this I will feel yucky after a few because of overly soaked in oil, but this one, it was pretty good.

Still oily, but not over powering.

Even when I kept 2 to bring home to let my parents try out, they are still pretty all right and not soggy througout despite I had to go through 40 minutes jam home. Now that's a PLUS!

The only minus points I'd give is probably too little cheddar cheese to begin with. Maybe I am too used to American cheddar where it is pretty much oozing out; while this cheese, though tasty (a little light as a cheddar) is a little on the dryer side.

For a cheese burger this is a little minus points. I might as well get a plain burger with the sauce that saved me a dollar, and still be equally good.
