Thursday Favourite__(ccc#2.36) Plan for My Favorite Native Hut and Garden__ by @marblely

Have a blessed day everyone! For the theme provided by no less than @marblely herself, we will be the engineer and architect of our own favorite dream house, right?

I am therefore presenting my plan which I will put up in the vacant lot as shown on the above photo. That vacant lot is our homestead where we used to have our little Nipa hut. It was our petite rest house which we often visit especially during weekends. I love to live in a house that is designed by me.

The vacant lot is about 500 sq. m. I did the design myself and I will have it reconstructed on the front view near the green shrubs. The materials will all be made from indigenous materials.

This means that all will be made from bamboo, starting from posts and wall. The roof will be made from coconut leaves which are woven using bamboo stick and rattan string. Another variety of palm leaf called Nipa is often used as roof. This is more durable and a bit expensive. I will be using which one is available. In the absence of both, cogon grass is best for native roof. I assure you guys, it's cool inside even if the weather is hot.

My native hut will be measuring about 14x8 dimension, with one bedroom and a dining area cum sala. The flooring will be made from bamboo strips too and it will only be four feet from the ground.

That lone tree on the right is an Indian mango tree which I planted before. I plan to put a hammock for my siesta.

I will have the whole vacant area fenced with hard bamboo strips and I will have a separate fence for my native hut as well. I plan to build a cage for my green plants and edible vines such as pear squash, garbanzos, string beans, etc. I will plant a bunch of lemon grass beside the fences.

On the left side is a slope and down is a flowing water which is the main source of water irrigation for rice paddies. I will replant banana trees to make use of the area. The slope at the far end will be planted with squash, bell peppers, eggplants and tomatoes. The upper part will be for sweet potatoes and spinach.

The flat area at the front of my native hut will be planted with various kinds of flowers such as chrysanthemums of different colors, roses and margaritas beside the fence. I will make it my little paradise!

At the far end on the right is a small source of water that kept the soil most of the time so I built a little pond there. I changed my mind and planned to bring back old memories. I will have the rice stalks threshed from harvest stored and dumped there to produce compost soil. More often than not, edible mushrooms tend to grow before the stalks are rotten. It's the best organic edible mushroom I've tasted so far.

Not shown at the front photo is a small source of spring water we owned below the creek. Our neighbors fetch their drinking water there despite the water supply from the government. It's our natural spring water, so fresh and cold with natural taste. I will have it repaired and place a tank going to our rest house.

With all these plans, my native hut will be facing our volcano along the green rice paddies. Well, the fog was still thick so it was not visible when this photo was taken.

At the center part is a flowing water which support the farmers. We're lucky enough because the main source passes through the land that belongs to the family so we never run out of supply.

My friends, all these remain a plan in the absence of money of course. Perhaps, it will be materialized in due time sooner or later.

Meanwhile, I will plant spring onions in our vacant lot to have little profit.

This is my entry and thanks to @marblely for initiating this entry.

Till then,
@Sarimanok

Aaah so much greenery @sarimanok! So peaceful and calming with natural spring water too! I love that your dream hut will be surrounded by nature. Is there a river nearby where you can catch some fish? Ooo you can rear chickens too! Good idea to plant some spring onions now to make some money. I hope your dream come true soon @sarimanok!

Yes dear. Soon. Actually, we used to have one before but it was damaged by the typhoon. Yes, beside that spring water is a creek. There are some fresh water fish and eels. I once planted squash too. The soil is fertile that we don't need to buy fertilizers at the store. Instead, we use compost soil and carabao manures.
