How's it going Travelfeeders and Steemers??

So after spending three nights on the beautiful Zanzibar island. We are now back in Dar Es Salaam camping at the beach.

We set up our tent for the night,

And had a couple of drinks as the sun went down.

The following morning the truck life begins!

A quick breakfast at 7am. Then we load the truck up and start our great migration north to Arusha, on our overland safari.

The truck sits 26 people and there were only 10 of us. So we have plenty of room to stretch out and relax for the long drive.

It takes us nearly 3 hours just to leave Dar Es Salaam as there was alot of traffic. Then it was smooth driving until our lunch stop.

We stopped at a petrol station for lunch and unloaded the truck. Quickly made some sandwiches and stocked up on supplies aka beer.

There was a crew of Guinea Fowls cruising around the station. These guys are my favourite African birds.

Loaded the truck back up, then back on the road.

Madi made a comfy chair out of the sleeping mats at the back of the truck.

The further out we got the land scape started to change from red dirt,

to lush green terrain.

Our tour leader received a phone call and was notified that the camp grounds that we were supposed to be staying at was under construction. So we had to make a last minute change of plans for tonight's camping.

We found a hotel just in time as the sun started to set.

The camping option was on the grass next to the road. Everyone else upgraded into a room for the night. There was a bunch of locals hanging out and a security guy with a shot gun walking around securing the perimeter.

We decided an upgrade would be the better option. After the 12 hour drive setting up the tent was not the best option haha.

We checked into our room and I think our bed was made for midgets.

We wake up at 5am and it's New Year Eve!! What a way to end 2019. Load up the truck and make our way to Arusha.

It was a very scenic drive as we drove up the windy hills.

Some of the corners were a bit too sharp for the overloaded trucks...

The drive along the mountain range was a nice back drop to pass the time.

At one point we could see Mt Kilimanjaro, the worlds highest free standing mountain.

You can just see the snow above the clouds.

We could just make out the snow capped peak amongst the clouds.

As we got closer to the city of Arusha, a army brigade was driving down the other side of the road. All with guns drawn, balaclavas on and every type of heavy artillery you could imagine.

Our tour leader was yelling what ever you do don't take any photos!!

Then when we got into the city of Arusha, there were 5 times as many army trucks driving through the streets! All with heavy artillery on display, they all seemed happy so it must have just been the army flexing their power to the Arusha people. Plus it was NYE.

Then we finally made it to Meserani Snake Park. Just in time for our Australian New years count down which was at 6pm here in Tanzania.

We celebrated with a Jager bomb then went and set up our tent.

This camp ground is very nice. And will be our base for the next 4 days, as we head out to explore the Ngorongoro crater aka the Garden Of Eden and the mighty Serengeti.

Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned for more.

Happy travels😊
