TREES on a TUESDAY or any DAY

Walking around my yard getting some snaps of trees with their new leaves coming out.

Sugar Maple and Black Walnut roots sharing the same soil...

Catalpa, who's large heart shaped leaves, the size of a large pan-cake are just starting to emerge...

A pair of Sweet Gum I planted from seed, now about 60 feet tall. They are near the limit of their northern range. Don't grow much higher than southern Connecticut...

They have done real good here on long Island with it's moderate winter climate. In the right conditions can grow up to 150 feet.

Sweet Gum trunk..Liquidambar styraciflua ...not to be confused with Australian Eucalyptus genus...

Looking up at the larger Sweet Gum. When competing for light with nearby trees the Sweet Gum will grow straight up, making a pole like shape.

Black Walnut with room to grow. It's leaves just emerging like the Catalpa.

Yellowwood, who's original range was a small part of the State of Kentucky...

Being shaded the lower limbs are dying off as the top part continues to grow towards the sun...
