A wonderful White Hall in the Palace in Wilanow / Sala biała w Pałacu w Wilanowie

The white hall is the largest and most impressive room in the Wilanow Palace. It was designed with panache. There are many huge paintings here, including the most famous portrait of Stanislaw Kostka Potocki, above a black piano. In addition, there are a lot of dignified chandeliers and beautiful decorations referring to ancient times, with Greek columns.

The palace windows overlook one of the gardens and here for the first time I had the opportunity to see this naturally beautiful place. It is true from behind the glass, but you could already see the charm of this well-kept and designed in a baroque style garden.

The portrait of Stanisław Kostka Potocki on horseback was painted by Jacques-Louis David. It is one of the most valuable Polish works of art. I was surprised when I took a closer look at this painting. See, it shows a dog attacking a horse, trying to bite its leg. What kind of dramaturgy, and at the same time Stanislaw Kostka Potocki poses for the painter and, relaxed, holds his hat off. What contrast of emotions in the same painting.

Portret Stanisława Kostki Potockiego na koniu został namalowany przez Jacques'a-Louisa Davida. To jeden z najcenniejszych polskich dzieł sztuki.

Around 1730, when King August II the Strong of the Wettin dynasty leased the Wilanow estate, a representative White Hall was established. This palace interior has witnessed many important celebrations.

Około 1730 r., kiedy posiadłość wilanowską dzierżawił król August II Mocny z dynastii Wettynów, powstała reprezentacyjna Sala Biała. To pałacowe wnętrze było świadkiem wielu ważnych uroczystości.

To take this photo, I lay down on the black and white marble floor for a moment. It's nice to be in a museum to be able to see the room you visit from a different perspective. Especially when there are beautiful chandeliers or paintings on the ceiling.

There are pictures of successive owners of the palace (including King Jan III Sobieski) or people associated with him.

It is a portrait of King Jan III Sobieski, and above it there is a small balcony and strong maroon curtains, just like in the theater. Maybe the plays staged in the white room were watched from there? Interesting...

Ciekawe...
