«Poder olvidar significa cordura.»

«To be able to forget means sanity.»

Vladimir reached out his hand towards the doorway, tried to reach Jessica, who was screaming for his help, but could not reach her. The entrance was closing and Vladimir had to retreat. Jessica also pulled back, as a force prevented her from continuing. They both remained inert in their positions as they watched the portal close, once and for all, being the only chance for connection.

For some years now, Vladimir, a physicist-theorist who studied the famous String Theory, and beyond that, had become obsessed with other theories about multiverses, and secretly studied the possibility of other worlds; identical or different from ours, with a diversity of individuals perhaps just like us, living different circumstances.

On another universal space line, there was Jessica, a practical scientist of Chaos Theory and its entropic consequence. She was looking, like Vladimir, for the possibility of "Parallel Universes" and crossing over into them. Places and spaces that can interact. Breaking the temporal limits of the cosmos and thus being able to circumvent the laws of these worlds.

Jessica was more ambitious than Vladimir, because unlike Vladimir, her interest was not one of knowledge and exploration, but something purely interactive. A reciprocity between the different worlds, which could grant various knowledge that we humans seek.

Jessica and Vladimir were about to explode, as their correct theories would lead them to finally meet. Two scientists, the same theory embarked on different points of view, will achieve a goal that is to know each other.

However, despite the resources, Vladimir had the most complications. He is a thirty-six year old, single man, living in an apartment alone, working for a government that exploits his scientific abilities; for which he and many people in his country feel immeasurable fear. For his project to succeed, he had to do everything on the sly, including putting his theories into practice, and to this day, no one has discovered his plans.

Jessica's case was different since she had more freedom. At the age of twenty-eight she already held two doctorates, each in the field of study she was most passionate about. She was also single like Vladimir, with no children; only pets. She lived in a house on the outskirts of the city, facing a lagoon. Her mind is one of the brightest in the organization and she had access to places the other scientists did not. Jessica was obsessed, as she was faithful to her theories, and it wouldn't be long before she finally met her other side.

Vladimir managed to manipulate light by means of silicon. Jessica operated it with carbon. Vladimir was trying to mimic the speed of light and multiply it tenfold. Jessica was trying to break the sound barrier, using one of the company's machines. Vladimir already felt ready to push the limits of universal space. Jessica had been ready for a long time.

Two dimensions, same place in different worlds. One and the same idea split in two, everything was ready for this moment to emerge. And so it was, even the wind condensed. The sound of a whistling took over the room of both. A source of energy emerged as electricity, it expanded little by little opening a kind of portal. Strange aromas invaded Jessica's and Vladimir's nostrils as the circle opened allowing them a glimpse of what was on the other side.

Vladimir was not afraid so he approached, as the extraordinary entrance opened in the middle of his room. Jessica was more cautious, not allowing herself to approach so soon, however, as she caught a glimpse of what lay on the other side of the portal, she began to be overcome with interest and gradually approached.

There, in the circle of a new world, she saw Vladimir's eyes for the first time. And the latter, in vice versa, marveled at Jessica's eyes. They both stared at each other, they thought for a moment they were in a dream. At the same time they raised one of their hands and reached out to try to touch each other. They smiled at each other, they were in awe. Suddenly, they realized that the barrier of the portal was impenetrable and a force began to stop them.

Vladimir reached out as far as he could, but the portal was closing. Jessica tried to keep it open, but all to no avail. The door between two dimensions closed and they were both left in a frustrating drift. Vladimir, with his limited resources, searched for a way to reopen it again. Jessica, with more advanced knowledge, searched for a way to maintain the portal; and this time, to bring the man who made her so curious into her world.
