The breeze seemed to be cool and the leaves were moving. The flower petals seemed to flutter and the birds were suddenly active; moving from one place to another. The dried leaves that were ready to drop any moment seemed to come back to life and were moving as if it were expecting a miracle.

The clouds which were a brilliant white seemed to darken as if someone had painted them grey. She knew what was coming and hoped for it. After picking the clothes from the lines, she went out of the house and looked up at the sky, expectantly.

Then she heard it. The slow rumble. It was announcing the arrival of the first rain, after ages.

The puppy came running to her and she sat down on the garden chair, sipping her tea when the first drop fell.

The wait was over. It was time to rejoice and celebrate the end of the dry season.
