Kolang kaling comes from the fruit of the sugar palm tree which is then processed into kolang kaling, the taste of kolang kaling itself is bland and the texture is chewy and soft, usually kolang kaling is used as an additional topping in making drinks, but there are also those who process it into kolang like what I made today, but not only kolang kaling, I also added several other fruits such as pumpkin and corn to make it more delicious

The way to prepare it is also very easy, just like cooking compote in general, kolang kaling is almost similar to lontar fruit, only they have a different taste to the sweet lontar fruit, while kolang kaling tastes bland but they have the same shape and texture - the same chewy



Ingredients for making kolang kaling and yellow pumpkin compote:

100 grams of yellow pumpkin
100 grams of palm fruit
700ml coconut milk
2 pieces of corn
1 piece of palm sugar
Pandan leaves



how to make :

(1) The first step is to peel the pumpkin skin then cut the pumpkin into cubes, then wash it clean and then set it aside for a while



(2) then take the kolang kaling then wash it clean and put it in a pan along with the yellow pumpkin, cook with 200ml of water until the pumpkin is slightly cooked, then add 700ml of coconut milk then stir well and also add pandan leaves as a fragrance then also add the flaked corn and stir. everything is even



(3) and then add 1 teaspoon of salt then dip 1 piece of brown sugar in it and wait until the brown sugar dissolves. After that, check that the pumpkin and kolang kaling are cooked. If they are cooked, turn off the stove, wait until they cool and then enjoy them.
