Natural Medicines: Common Herbals for Malaria Treatment in Africa

Malaria seems to be common to most people in Africa but malaria is very dangerous and deadly if not treated or overlooked. In Nigeria, malaria has killed thousands of people because its environment is occupied by mosquitoes.

Anopheles mosquitoes transmit malaria to the body system through it hook host and then allow its dangerous poison known as protozoan parasite to the red blood cell thereby making sure it penetrates into the human body. As the mosquito injects the human body, the body will be tempted to react thereby causing high or low fever which can damage other organisms in the body if not immediately and carefully treated.

How people were more convinced over Herbal medicine than English drugs for malaria treatment:

According to my research in the Southern part of Nigeria, 40% of men while 32% of women strongly agree that natural medicines are known as herbal work, more effectively for malaria treatment than to be compared to English drugs. Most of the people who I interviewed pointed out that the English malaria drugs which they have been taken for malaria treatment are made up of chemicals that can affect the body in the nearest future but in the case of natural medicine (herbal), it contains natural ingredients which does not affect the body, it also works effectively for malaria treatment thereby boosting the immune body system.

Most of the people I also interviewed argued that if people who are using herbal medicines for any of their health treatment do apply the herbal accordingly without overdose that their body will be strong and fits to fight other health negative factors than taking English drugs made with chemicals.

I will be pointing out three plants used for malaria treatment in Nigeria. These include:

1. African peach (Nauclea latifolia Sm), the specie belongs to Rubiaceae.

2. Brimstone tree (Morinda lucid benth) the specie belongs to Rubiaceae.

3. Lemon grass (Cymbopogon citrates) the specie belongs to Poaceae.

Below, I will be telling you how you can get and apply the herbal plant yourself without any herbalist.

Herbal malaria treatment using Nauclea latifolia Sm (Rubiaceae):

For the treatment of malaria using the plant mentioned above,

You will have to make sure to get the plant.

Make sure not to use another related plant thinking the one mentioned above.

Wash the plants carefully with normal water.

Please you are to use only the root and stem bark.

You will have to boil the root in a traditional pot for 2 hours.

After the boiling, you will have to soak the root with alcohol or water depending on your choice.

Then filter out the filtrate accordingly.

Use a glass cup to measure half of the glass and then take three times on daily bases for 4 to 7 days.

For the treatment of malaria using the plant mentioned above,

You will have to make sure to get the plant.

Make sure not to use another related plant thinking the one mentioned above.

Wash the plants carefully with normal water.

Please you are to use the stem bark or leaves only.

If you are using the stem bark; Please boil for 10 minutes, soak completely with ethanol for 24 hours, separate solid particles, and take half a glass cup daily.

If you are using the leaves; boil for the minutes, separate particles, and take half a glass cup twice on daily bases for five days.

If you are treating malaria using lemon grass (Cymbopogon citrates):

You will have to make sure to get the plant.

Make sure not to use another related plant thinking the one mentioned above.

Wash the plants carefully with normal water.

Please you are to use only the leaves.

Allow the grass to dry for effective output.

Boil the grass with a traditional pot for 30 minutes.

Make sure not to fill the whole pot with water.

Allow the whole thing to cool after boiling.

Separate particles.

Take full glass cup ones in the morning and at night on daily bases.
