Stop pollution |Promote Sustainability

Disposable paper has over time become one of the world's largest problems, with disposable paper contributing to about 26% of the solid waste.
This problem has over time grown to become extremely alarming due to the use of printing press and high mechanized harvesting of wood, contributing to a vast majority of air, land, and water pollution.

The two major problems associated with this instance are massive depletion of forest reserves as well as excessive environmental waste.

There are several ways in which the issue of Forest depletion can be resolved like afforestation and implementation of laws that promote forest preservation.

But there is one idea of paper waste control that I have found to be very creative and useful and that is the transformation of paper to wood or newspaper wood.

NEWSPAPER WOOD

It's simple, disposable paper is collected, destroyed, and compressed in such a way that they become extremely thick, it's basically converting paper back to wood. Newspaper wood was first created by Mieker Meijer. Who started this simple experiment by folding papers very tightly and gluing them upon each other allowing them to form a layer of paper in form of grains of wood or rings from a tree.

It's is also important to note that, this not a replacement for trees, but rather a means of converting paper waste into wooden form. Which can then be used to provide textures to Designed pieces of furniture or crafts. Therefore making them eco-friendly.

But the disadvantage of this method is that it is highly labor-intense, and consumes a lot of time even though it helps to reduce the amount of paper waste in the environment.

But in the end, saving the earth all begins with you, and me. let's think of a means to reduce pollution, and preserve the earth.

Support the eco-project. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
And promote sustainability in the process.
