Harvesting The Biggest Mustard Green And Make Them Into Something Delicious.

IMG_9098_jpg.jpeg

For 6 years, we have lived from agriculture. It doesn't mean that I eat vegetables every day, but we live from agricultural products. It is an important role that my husband has really worked hard to support us from agricultural products and urban farming. Building a business with fellow farmers and even selling hydroponic vegetables.

Living in the city becomes very difficult when you don't have a large area of land. Land prices become very expensive, especially if the land is strategically located at the center of the economy, industry and has easy access. Recently it has become very expensive because many people understand about investing in land that will be used as a residence. The city center is definitely what many people are looking for.

The Big Green Mustard

The less land, the more difficult it will be to have an agricultural business. So it is very difficult to survive amidst the excitement of city life. My husband and I have a little land in the middle of the city, as a place to live and build a business together in that house.

Even though it's small, making the best use of land with hydroponics is satisfying in itself. Indeed, we only sell vegetables 2-3 times a month, at least we can use the agricultural produce to pay for electricity. The rest of the vegetables that we grow can be used as daily food as a source of fiber.

We did a lot of trials in hydroponics, including wanting to create seeds that would be replanted to continue rotating. But it always fails and the results are less than satisfactory. For example, this time, you want to get results from green mustard greens, the most favorite vegetable and really liked by many people.

You can see that I am carrying that many green mustard greens whose leaves are as wide as an elephant's palm. I know this vegetable will definitely not be good to eat because it is too old. So I thought hard about processing it. Even though there are actually some people who like it, I really want to make a special food.

Planning to make Peyek (crunchy) from mustard greens, I think it's a good idea. In fact, I can make a lot of peyek from mustard greens and I will share them with several of my friends. Peyek is similar to a fried tortilla, but it is made from rice flour with various spices which make it rich in taste.

How to make crunchy mustard green:

  • I have never written this recipe down completely but I really like this secret recipe that I created. I think this can be a guide in making the right mustard green shreds. I washed all the mustard green leaves and dried them with a cloth. Then I waited for 1 hour so that it was completely dry, this was done so that the spices and flour could stick to the leaves.

  • While waiting for the mustard greens to dry, while I mix the main spices. I crushed the peeled garlic, coriander and candlenuts. Just add a little water to make it easy and very smooth, so that it blends perfectly into the dough.

  • Take 1 large basin, enough to accommodate the dipped vegetables. Add cornstarch, rice flour, water and mushroom stock. Dilute with water in 3 stages so that it is not too runny, then add the ground ingredients.
