Mashed Chickpeas Recipe

I used to think, how could someone create something similar, like plant-based meat with the same taste as the original. I once compared that, buying a piece of vegetarian sausage which tasted similar to beef sausage. It's all about knowledge and trial and error, many people spend their time changing anything in this world, even in the current culinary world.

One day, I also realized that there were many plants that apparently had the same taste, even the texture was very similar to real meat. For example, chickpeas, which apparently look like chickens, even the name is very similar. Not only the name, the texture, taste and color are really similar.

Chickpeas With More Protein


That's why I like chickpeas, because my brain always thinks about getting enough daily protein, even if I eat a snack, is this snack also high in protein? Especially if I'm doing leg exercises, I need more protein, at least 120 g per day. How do I get the protein? I make do with real food.

There are many types of peas, but I love the chickpea, I always like it to be mashed like mash potato and eaten just like that. The taste is really very delicious, it feels very soft and melting. After eat the chickpea, I feel like I want to fly into space, I can't help but suppress my love for chickpeas. I am so regret because I only found out about chickpeas in the past 1 year, and that's because my friend said it.

Mashed Chickpeas
The Recipe


Ingredients:

  • 200 gr potatoes
  • 200 gr chickpeas
  • 2 cloves garlic, 1 cloves union, leeks and celery
  • Oregano, chili powder, black pepper and salt
  • 1 tbsp vegan mayo, 1 tsp olive oil, 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon oil for frying

How to make mashed chickpeas:

  • Using chickpeas that have been soaked overnight to make them much softer in the morning, then I boil them for 20 minutes to make them ripe and then remove the outer skin so they taste better when bitten.

  • I peeled the potato skin and cut it so it would cook easily when boiled. Then boil for 10 min or until completely cook so that it is easy to crush with a fork.

  • after chickpeas boiled, then puree with a blender, then mixed with potatoes in the same container.

  • Add garlic, onion, leeks and celery, then add black pepper, chili powder and salt. Then stir it into a complex and dense dough, after that I form it like the picture below.

  • Heat a little oil, if use an air fryer it is not necessary, then fry gently on both sides.

  • Give a dip of vegan mayonnaise mix with lemon juice, olive oil and oregano, it will be very delicious to eat.
