Original Potato Chips

When talk about food, I always want to share recipes, how beautiful it is to share even a simple piece of information. Likewise with me who is always passionate about giving lots of recipes on the hive blog, I like it because cooking is one of my passions in recent years.

This time I want to write about food made from potatoes, because I think potatoes are a food ingredient that must exist in various regions in the world. Potatoes are a type of tuber that has complex carbohydrates and is rich in vitamins that are good for the body, and tastes good and is liked by everyone.

Speaking of potatoes, I guess many things can be made from potatoes. Like mash potatoes, potato chips, boiled potatoes, potato fritters and many others. If you ask me, what type of potato food do I like the most, the answer is potato fritters and potato chips.

Sadly, recently I just got information that my favorite snack which is usually available in convenience stores is no longer being sold in Indonesia, he said the import contract had expired and was not extended. If you know the trademark for 'Lays' potato chips with seaweed flavor, that's what I mean. It's really sad, even though I'm a fan of lays seaweed, when I'm traveling or just watching television, I usually serve lays as my snack.

Hearing that, I became curious about some similar trademarks, but nothing could replace them. Then, one day my mother-in-law gave me 2 kilograms of potatoes that were still raw and ready to be processed, so I thought of making something delicious like potato chips. However, this time the recipe is very simple and doesn't use seaweed flavoring because I'm curious about the original taste.

Original Potato Chips
The Recipe


ingredients;

  • 2 kilograms of potatoes
  • 3 liters of water
  • 2 tbsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Mushroom broth
  • Lime powder
  • 2 liters of oil

How to make original potato chips;

  • If you see the ingredients above, surely you think that making these potato chips is very easy to process, but please be careful step by step, OK?

  • Clean the potatoes from the remaining dirt that sticks to the skin, clean it by washing it with running water. Then peel the skin of the potato with a peeler, after that, slice it with a special knife so that the potatoes can be cut very thinly.

  • Wash the thinly sliced potatoes, you can wash and drain more than 3 times, this is so that the potatoes are easily brittle and crunchy when bitten.

  • After that, soak with 3 liters of water, salt, mushroom broth and a pinch of lime powder, the lime powder used is food grade, in Indonesia it is very much sold.

  • Soak the potatoes for 3 hours until the potatoes become wilted. Then put the oil into the wokpan, and fry in very hot oil.

  • If it is golden brown or the oil is not bubbly, remove and drain.

  • Potato chips ready to be served! You can add any topping you like, such as seaweed powder.
