Did I deserve to be treated that way?

There are times that you will feel helpless and just leave the matter to God to fight your battle for you because there is nothing you can do and any attempt from you would only make matters worse.

This was my predicament years ago when I was in senior secondary school, SS 1 precisely.

There are different kinds of students in Secondary school, We have the notorious boys that are always disturbing the other students and most time do not even attend class because they prefer to be in school 2 which is the school farm.

We have the Noisemakers, the quiet ones, the playful ones, the neat freaks and other characters.

I belong to the Playful One's association, once we are on break like this, I and my friends would be running around every class in our department.

On this fateful day, we were playing during break time when I mistakenly stepped on one of the neat freaks' socks, and before I could open my mouth to say `I am sorry`` a dirty thunderous slap landed on my cheek, I did not even know when hot tears started dropping from my eyes.

I looked at the boy and he was taller than me so trying to hit him back would only make him beat me more so I just stood there with the tears flowing, I do not know which hurt more, is it that pains from the slap or that it was my classmate that slapped me even though he was from a different department, I was in science class and he was in Art.

One of the girls in my class saw what happened and she was not pleased with it, she lashed at the boy that why would he slap his classmate it was really unfair, just because I stepped on his socks, the boy didn't say anything and just left.

I could not play anymore and I was moody throughout that day, like what did I do to deserve such a slap, just for marching your socks eh fine boy.

What do you think? was stepping on him worth the slap?

I bear the grudge for many years, even after we graduated, whenever I see the boy, I just get angry but there was nothing I could do lol.

Years later, after we graduated, I was on one of my visits home when I saw this guy again, but he had not changed, still the same height as at that time whereas I had grown bigger and kind of the same height with him but then I already let go of the past, it was not worth it and the way I even see him, I don't think he is happy with his life.
