Liquid Mirror

Few months have passed since I captured this picturesque forest moment. I have almost forgotten about it until I started making some order among the photo on my laptop & I stumble upon this one! I am pretty thrilled how this shot came out to be. I made it while I was searching for the magic mushrooms last autumn. The conditions in which Psilocybe serbica grows are very humid & she likes evergreen forest. So, the sights of small ponds & almost swamps are very common during the psilocybe hunt. I was carrying the camera with macro lens to shoot the mushrooms but I couldn't resist to take a shot of this mirror image of the forest in the surface of the pond. It is almost symmetrical & I was even giving a thought of turning the photo 180° upside-down to make it a bit abstract. It also looks like a painting a bit. I'm really satisfied how I managed to capture this Mother Nature creation.

The pond surface was so still that it really felt like a mirror. Kind of dark too, almost evil-dark & absorbing the Light energy.

The upper shot I made with Nikon Z6 & Sigma 105 mm DG Macro HSM lens & for the self-portrait below I used the older Nikon D800 & Nikon AF Nikkor 35-70 mm lens.
