How to keep every bit of your vote rewards?

I learned that there is such a thing known as dust threshold in Hive.

Recently, I learned that there is basically a $0.02 payout threshold. If the payout from a post or comment does not exceed $0.02 (in USD), the curation reward for that post or comment will not be paid out.

All these thanks to comments on my earlier posts as shown below.

As I look back at some of my older comments, I realised that I did not eventually get any payout even though I have some upvotes then. 😭

I basically wasted those rewards.

Then the next question is How to keep every bit of your vote rewards?

I guess I could manually make sure those I upvoted clearly exceed the threshold.

But hey, there is the dustsweeper bot on Hive which will automatically monitor those posts that are upvoted by you, and upvote them if they need some push over the threshold!

There is a fee of sorts to be paid, though. Basically, you need to send a small amount of Hive to their account - dustsweeper. Whenever there is a need to top up the dust votes beyond the threshold they will deduct the amount of Hive you sent over. According to them, we never really lose anything as we earn it back through the curation rewards. Otherwise, our reward payout lesser than $0.02 will be lost anyway.

I do not guarantee that my interpretation is 100% correct. Therefore I leave the link to the dustsweeper tool here: https://peakd.com/dustsweeper/@dustsweeper/dustsweeper-s-faq

Let me get back to crying over my spilled dust votes for a while more, and I will fix this up. 😭

I also learned it quite recently that there must something called dust votes. It's when the dustsweeper account upvoted one of my comments. I clicked on the profile and went down the rabbit hole. There are still some users who don't know about dust votes, especially newbies. It's good that you too know about it now :)

Dustsweeper is awesome.

Can definitely vouch for the tool working great.

Especially around Threads where lots of votes are low %.

Yes, the dust threshold is annoying and dustsweeper is a good way to stop that. Make sure to put your votes within 24 hours of the post/comment as well so you don't get a penalty in your curation rewards.

Love that dustsweeper. It really gave a good boost before my upvotes were worth more. Now that I am back to a low upvote I’ll have to check into it again.
