Tatay Edwin’s 60TH Birthday: A Simple Family Celebration Filled With Love, Lechon, Laughter and Priceless Memories – and the Joy of Being Complete

Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing well. There are moments in life that don’t need to be grand or luxurious to be unforgettable and one of these moments was my father-in-law Tatay Edwin’s 60th Birthday celebration.

Two weeks before his special day, we started planning the celebration with my husband’s siblings and my sister-in-law. We wanted it to be meaningful, simple but full of happiness. We decided to begin with a Bible Service to thank God for Tatay Edwin’s life and all the blessings he’s received over the years. It was the perfect way to start the celebration, with prayer, unity and gratitude.

Of course, here in our Province party feels complete without Lechon, especially lechon brings extra joy to the table. We all chipped in to buy a pig and made sure it was perfectly roasted for the big day. My brother in law, took charge of the cooking, making sure all the dishes were delicious and ready on time. My sister in law prepared all the utensils and helped entertain the visitors, while I was happily in charge of the program and decorations. We all had our own task, but we worked together as one happy team.

When the day of the party finally arrived, the smile on Tatay Edwin face said it all. He was genuinely happy, not because of the food or the set up, but because he was surrounded by the people who love him most.

One of the most special moments of the day was when all his siblings arrived. These were a few whoe were camera shy, but we convinced them to take picture with us anyway, because we knew these memories would be treasured forever. Seeing them laugh, hug, and enjoy each other’s company was such a heartwarming scene. You could really feel the bond of family.

What made the celebration even more meaningful was that all of us his children, in-laws and grandchildren were present. We were complete on my husband’s side, and the energy was different because the house filled with excitement. Tatay Edwin lit up when he saw his grandchildren, the four little girls we lovingly call the 3 maria’s. their presence made the day even more special. The way they ran around, sang happy birthday and gave Tatay Edwin kisses and hugs made his eyes tears up with joy.

At the end of the day, the party wasn’t about how expensive the food or set up, It was the effort, and the time we all gave to celebrate one amazing man who has given so much to all of us.

We didn’t just throw a birthday party, we created a memory that we will all carry in our hearts forever. And most of all, we made Tatay Edwin feel seen, appreciated and deeply loved. Because in the end, that’s what truly matters.
