UNFORGETTABLE: THE BIRTHDAY THAT STOLE MY HEART

What was the best birthday
celebration you ever had and why?

One thing my parent love most is celebrating their children's birthdays no matter the situation, it may not be as expected but that day must be full of mere and fun, A birthday is a way of showing appreciation that you live to remember another year.

In my family, birthday is a tradition that we can never miss, my father always takes birthdays seriously as if his life depends on it, he loves to make us happy and make that day a special and memorable one, he always plans ahead of it, celebrating birthdays was once a happy thing to do some years back.

The best birthday celebration I had was when I clocked twenty years of age, my father celebrated this birthday in a big way for me because we had many things to celebrate then, It was the same week my father bought a new car, he got promoted at work a month before my birthday and my brother's admission list was out a day before my birthday he was given admission into the university, it was a double celebration in the house that year.

My father decided to celebrate his promotion with my birthday not knowing that my brother's admission list would be out that day, I already knew that it would be a big celebration but I never expected how big it would be.

My mother decorated the house the night before my birthday though I wasn't aware of her plans because I went to bed early, she baked a cake for me and also invited some of my friends to share in my happiness, when I woke up that morning I was amazed when I saw the sitting room looking shining with balloons and glitters, it was decorated in my favorite color which is Gold with a touch of cream color I was so excited, the joy in me knows no bounds.

My brother invited one of his friends to be the MC of the event, we played games and danced, and my brother awarded the best dancer and also shared airtime and all sorts of gifts. It was a day to remember and smile, we had enough food and drinks, and my brother was the DJ.

Since that day I have never celebrated my birthday, it was the last birthday my father did for me before he passed away, so whenever I remember celebrating my birthday my mind struck back to the last birthday I had with him, and how I wish he was alive to be celebrating with us like he normally does.

None of my siblings celebrated birthdays again since our father passed away, my mother who used to be the life of our birthday celebrations stopped when my father was no more, all she does now is call anyone who is having their birthday and pray for the person on that day,

Celebrating my 20th birthday was fun but remembering it brings pain and sorrow to me because I wish my father would have been alive to celebrate more years with me.

This is my entry for this month's prompt of #neoxianprompts

Awww I’m sorry it has been like this since your dad passed
But your mom praying for you is a good thing though, that’s what my mom also does everyday.

Oh dear, I am sorry to know that this special birthday celebration of yours also brings back pain and sorrows to you. Death is stealer of joy and also inevitable for everyone.
What a triple celebration that year in your home... Even though mom calls nowadays to pray for you and your siblings on your birthday, it's the biggest gift we can think of. I hope you will experience a bigger celebration of your bday in the future, perhaps from your future hubby 😉

Mother's prayer goes a long way, she took it upon herself to pray for us every day and that is enough to ask for, thank you, momma, for your support.

Oh, :( Dreemer, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know it's hard, but have you thought about how your father would want you to celebrate your birthday and be happy? By the same way, I know that grief takes time. And maybe you need a little more time.

Celebrating your birthday would be a good way to honour him. That's my perspective. I know you didn't ask for it, but life is now. And I think your father would like you to live it happily too.

Love to you!

You 20th birthday sounds as though it was so much fun. It was an eventful day with a lot to be grateful for. You father started a wonderful tradition since he always took birthday seriously. What a wonderful memory about your father. Maybe he would love if your family would continue the tradition in his honour. However it is indeed sad that he is not around to be a part of it.

It was so wonderful that your family had that day. My condolences for him passing on. I appreciate how some of our traditions can change after the demise of a loved one. Thank you for sharing that lovely day with all of us.

Cheers from a fellow #dreemerforlife
